Re: The Walking Dead
Too bad for Jim because they'll probably go back for him and he'll think they have a cure, but instead, he'll be needed to develop a cure for others. So goes life."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The Walking Dead
Does anyone else have this earily feeling about the CDC? I hope it doesn't go this direction, but it's almost like Resident Evil.
Try the cure on a human specimen.. have the virus manipulate into something uncontrollable and out comes a 6 legged human being walking down the street looking for blood.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead
i doubt it by the somewhat realistic nature of the show. More likely it will become a safe haven for awhile until the zombies eventually break through. I'm also willing to bet that one of them is turned into a zombie and is used as a test subjectComment

Re: The Walking Dead
The one thing that bothers me a little bit, is how early in the series they are breaking off form the books.
Don't get me wrong I am really enjoying it and I like it to be a little different to keep you on your toes, I'm just saying it seems a little early that's all.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: The Walking Dead
I'm still trying to figure out how a heavily armed infantry unit could've been overrun by these things. You have maximum fire power, choppers, tanks vs human bodies that move slow as molasses. Now it would be a different story if these things were the fast movers similar to the Dawn remake, then you'd have problems.
the book goes into greater detail...theres also movie talks for this
The United States Army sends a task force to Yonkers, New York, in a high-profile military campaign intended to restore American morale. Instead, the troops are overwhelmed and routed by the zombies, due to reliance on tactics dating back to the Cold War which stressed using anti-tank weapons against human enemies, who can eventually be shocked and awed into surrender. Such outdated tactics were utterly mismatched against an enemy which relies on human wave attacks and has no fear of death. Other countries suffer similarly disastrous defeats against their own hordes of the infected, and human civilization teeters on the brink of collapse.Last edited by Goffs; 11-30-2010, 10:02 AM.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead
I'm not too sure on this CDC story arc. I will not be too happy if we start to see mutant zombies running around come next season. Those that have read the comics, were there any mutant zombies? I guess you have to figure at some point humans, animals, etc. would mutate with this infection spreading.
This World War Z book sounds interesting.
i prefer the slow walking death version than the fast ones...Last edited by Goffs; 11-30-2010, 12:30 PM.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead
The easiest way for me to explain zombie outbreaks working is that the disease was air born and effected most of the population nearly immediately. The remaining survivors had a natural immunity, thus explaining the chaos of everything from government to the military. Then there would just be such overwhelming odds against them that the zombies could overcome an act of defiance/defense.Comment
