Romero tried to evolve the zombie a few times with Bud in Day and the gas station zombie in Land......I would not be surprised to see zombies evolve over the course of this series later on. I could be wrong since this probably follows the comics.

      Re: The Walking Dead

If AMC can make a subject matter about ad men into an award winning series after finishing what will likely be it's most successful season yet, I have absolutely no doubts that this show can and will last a very long time.

Last night was a very gripping episode. Some emotional, some cool moments and some HOLY CRAP moments.

I was surprised to find a few moments in the show to be genuinely scary, a feat which is pretty rare for me nowadays. In the hospital at the start and then later on in the house at night when the car alarm went off. Wow...very compelling show!

it was generic zombie material really. That's fine for the first episode, but they'll obviously have to expand on that if they want to keep this series going, so I'll stick around. AMC is legit with their shows, and it was done quite well. The gore and zombies look better than in some hollywood movies.

Seriously, I was blown away by the quality of the zombies, ranging from long dead to recently deceased. The zombie in the park is mindblowingly awesome.

That's the largest audience for any cable series premiere on any network this year.

It's also the highest premiere numbers for any series in AMC's history.

I thought the show was awesome. Even my mom, who hates gory and scary movies was drawn in by the storylines built into it. Afterwards she said "I can' believe I am drawn to a series about zombies."

A question for anyone that has read several of the comics (from the beginning - and the only question I will ask any comic readers). Please place answer in spoilers to respect others.

Producers have said they want Walking Dead to rival The Simpsons in series length. Robert Kirkman says he has ideas for 250 issues in a comic book series that has not even reached 100 yet.

How many issues of the comic did the pilot episode cover?

i have all 6 hard cover books of The Walking Dead its pretty close to the book but Rick never went inside the Abrams...i like the pilots version since it was more dramatic when he turned that street to see a wall of zombies

in the book the zombies were all over the tank just hanging about and its a different plot from the pilot..

im guessing that the six episodes this season covers all of book one...

I also, agree that Zombie's aren't the main focus. I haven't read the comics so I'm not revealing anything- I think the conflict surrounding the survivors is going to be the main attraction. Similar to that of 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead or any other movie that involves zombies for that matter. There can only be so many brainless, zombie killing scenes before they get old. But, the possibilities of conflicts between characters are endless. That why (imo) this series is going to live or die by the struggles and differences between the survivors. And if they are engaging enough then I could easily see this lasting 4 or 5 seasons.
