Quite different actually, IMO. With a TV show, the majority can/does experience in the same general time frame (within a few days) whereas games and movies, people experience can experience at different times and specifically for games, experience it at a different pace.

"If you're talking about something that has happened in the most recently aired episode, you do not need spoiler tags. If it has happened, it has happened and therefore you can talk about it openly without spoiler tags."
Some people may not watch it for a few days after the episode airs. So no it's not different especially since there's many options of when you can watch media of TV. (Netflix, DVR, Season DVD's ect...)
So while someone may not play a certain game for a week or month after it's release the same can be said for TV/Movies. This media is not "only can watch this day" any longer.
Either way if that's the rule that's the rule....
Like previously said we can just avoid the thread until after watching newest episode.
Ok back to your regularly scheduled programming............Last edited by Skyboxer; 11-05-2010, 11:19 AM.Joshua:

Most of the time, I think guys here will use spoiler tags as an episode airs. I've seen it and I've used it. I realize that some folks watch a day or two after the episode.
But, at some point, people should be able to talk about an episode that aired.
Anyway, my assumption is it is going 6 episodes because most networks will only order a half season and then determine if the series deserves a second half.
I'm guessing because The Walking Dead is serialized and not episodic, the deal was to order half a season and then go with a full order for the second if the series deserved a second."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: The Walking Dead
If you don't watch an episode, what purpose is there to go in the thread - to see if people enjoyed it, I'd assume. If that's the case, there are other ways of doing it: feel free to PM me, check the countless spoiler-free reviews online, PM another member in the thread who you trust the opinion of, etc.
I haven't watched Boardwalk Empire/Sons of Anarchy in about three weeks, and I haven't went in the thread for either of those shows. Would I love to see if people enjoyed it? Of course. Do I think that just because I didn't watch the episode as it aired people should be forced to talk in tags? Absolutely not and its why I stay out of the threads.
As for why we treat movies/games here differently, aside from the reason posted above about there being a set time for the episode, is also the monetary reason. To me it means something, because if I get a 60 dollar video game, or a 10 dollar movie spoiled I care more than if I go into a thread knowingly having missed an episode.
Also, just to be clear - this "after it airs its fair game" rule only goes on in the thread dedicated to the show. If you're posting the ending/twist/etc. of anything in a thread that has nothing to do with it, Off-Topic for instance, it should always be spoiler'd because that's just rude to ruin stuff for people in threads they aren't expecting to see it in.Comment

Re: The Walking Dead
But a TV show or movie, its linear... thus stay away until you watch it, then come back to discuss. You cant expect people to put spoilers in these threads, or just about every post would be this:

Wasn't trying to be a pain just didn't make sense to me. Anyways, so any threads dedicated to TV shows we don't need to use spoiler tags is what the rule is...Gotcha.

Finally watch the opening episode. Simply brilliant. Loving the storyline. The ability to show the human side to what has happen really drew me in.
Unlike most zombie movies, which really focus on the zombies.

Re: The Walking Dead
It is the animal lover in us though. Since we love Animal Planet so much. And all the rescue shows. They made it more emotional cause the poor thing was so scared when he first met it, it didn't want to leave, he had to talk to it, and calm it down and get it to trust him, only to have it a buffet item for Hotlanta!
Yet we both had no emotion for the little girl zombie, heck, I felt bad for leggless there when it seemed to cry in misery before he blasted it.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 11-07-2010, 02:39 PM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: The Walking Dead
I was actually watching a replay of the show with my mom, and my sister came home right before he turned the corner to see all the zombies.
She looks at me and goes: "Tell me something, does the horse die?"
I say "Yes. Horse Buffet."
She got up and left and said "That poor horse...I can't watch this."Comment
