    Re: PC Gaming

The last time I gamed on a PC was with my first PC playing Half Life. I had two Voodoo 2 cards in SLI mode. I agree with the comments that FPS games are a lot better on the PC.

I simply can't afford the upgrades.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

      Re: PC Gaming

Most of my PC gaming is for simulation-style gaming that just doesn't happen on consoles. The two games I primarily play on my computer are NASCAR Racing 2003 (Racing Sim) and Microsoft Flight Simulator X, both of which are far and away better than any similar releases on gaming consoles.

I'm considering getting some other games now that I've got a brand new laptop which can handle games pretty well for the most part, but those are the only games I really play on the PC at this point.

Well, I also play Jane's Combat Simulations Fighters Anthology on the XP desktop, but it won't work on my Windows 7 laptop since the game came out in 1997.

I played the SC2 beta with a 9800GT(weaker than a GTS 250) and it looked great. I did experience a little slowdown during large fights and so I ordered a GTX260.
I ended up going with the GTS 250 last weekend and so far I love the card. Boy does this sucker get very hot and creates quite a bit of heat in the case. I need to modify the side panel of my case a little by adding 2 more fans to push out the heat. I can run Crysis on Medium/High settings which is cool. I need to upgrade my CPU which is only a C2D 1.8 Ghz and I'm looking at eventually getting a C2D 2.93 Ghz CPU since right now I can't get a new mobo and ram.

That's great, the cpu upgrade would be nice as well. As long as your motherboard supports a high end C2D then you really don't need a new motherboard. C2D's are still very good cpu's.

and yes, those extra fans would help a lot.

            Re: PC Gaming

With HD the graphics are close enough and that ended my PC gaming. I work in front of a PC most of the day and at home I want to sit back on the couch when I'm gaming. The only games I haven't been able to get into on console are RTS.
I also got tired of the upgrades, troubleshooting and hunting for patches for my older games. I am now spoiled by consoles ease of use.
I did get a new graphics card about 2 years ago so my daughter could play Sims 3. That was until something happened to stop it from working.

I was looking and the 2.93 ghz is the highest I can go on my mobo since it's 1066mhz.....though I thought I had seen a 3.06 ghz processor, but I could be wrong. I doubt the jump from 2.93 to 3.06 is that much of a difference.

I really need to get an extra fan or two in there, because after playing Crysis, my system is cooking inside.

                Re: PC Gaming

PC Gaming is great, I've been PC gaming every since I picked up my latest ATi Card and I must say, I'm done with consoles, especially since the sports titles have fallen off. Seeing the level of modifications to sports titles, it's just sad that they didn't release a football on PC already. Imagine Madden with real ESPN presentation and branded stadiums.

I haven't touched my 360 in over a month or two...and I don't miss it, my account is silver and I'm comfortable with it.

Go with ATi and max your ram and play everything at max settings...it's amazing and makes consoles look like the waste of a dime.
