I doubt it because ever since the 2nd season storyline (which should have been saved for the final season) Dexter has become the new Richard Kimball from the Fugitive will all the close calls. It's lazy writing and meant to get cheap thrills for the viewer. Unfortunately it will probably continue because of the higher ratings for the disappointing 5th season (which I think was more of a carryover from the superior 4th season and it's acclaimed finale than from the quality of the 5th season.)

Re: Dexter (Season 5)
I got my girlfriend watching Dexter and she's into it.
Let me see if you guys agree with my assessment:
The end of the season two is the highlight of the series. While season one is terrific and the beginning of season two is good as well, the last few episodes of the second season are "Dexter" at its best. Also, season three is completely skippable. It means little to the overarching storyline of the series and is the least entertaining and least "Dexter"-ish of the seasons. Season four however is a very nice rebound.
And IMO season five was disappointing and really unnecessary in the end.SpoilerAll that and what do we as viewers find out? Dexter still isn't "human" and can't have a companion/friend that knows what he does. There was no progress made at all. No new information.Originally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? No one can seem to kill the right one.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 5)
They're certainly giving the impression that they're going to milk Dexter dry, which is disappointing. I don't want this show to be on for 20 seasons; I want a tense, tightly-plotted endgame.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. I definitely agree about Season Five. I also felt it led to a lot of nothing.
However, if the goal is to just continue telling these stories where Dexter stops someone and narrowly escapes the most dimwitted collection of cops, then it's a great season.
That storyline however is already boring me. If season six follows the same format, I'll stop watching. I'll tune back in or watch the season if it's the final one or if someone here convinces me that the season made a big push forward.
Right now Dexter is in Lost season 2 mode. There is no end date so they are just stretching the story thin.

Re: Dexter (Season 5)
Showtime subscriptions have skyrocketed in the last five years (from 14 million to 19 million). By comparison HBO/Cinemax lost 1.5 million subscribers last year.
No doubt Showtime has attributed a lot of its gains to Dexter, so they're not going to be in any hurry to end the series.Comment

Re: Dexter (Season 5)
Good for Showtime, bad for viewers. If they're only going to wrap up the show once its ratings sink, then the conclusion will be a cheap rushjob. Highly serialized shows like Dexter need structure. LOST improved mightily at the midpoint of Season 3 once an end date was announced. The three-season endgame of The Shield was probably the most satisfying TV of the last decade. Dexter has a great premise and a great lead actor - the writers should run with it and take chances rather than hitting the reset button at the end of each season.Showtime subscriptions have skyrocketed in the last five years (from 14 million to 19 million). Re: Dexter (Season 5)
IMO they can squeeze out 2 more seasons, maybe 3, but that would be the absolute limit. And this is assuming they take a change in direction away from the "Dexter is this close to being caught" approach, like others have already mentioned here.
This is my favorite show on TV, and probably of all time, but it would kill me to see things end poorly.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: Dexter (Season 5)
It is, without a doubt, my favorite show of all time (hell, I didn't even hate season three after rewatching it twice), but I agree with you - there is, at max, three seasons of this show left. I would prefer two, with this coming season's ending being Deb catching Dexter mid-project and then the final season having everything wrapped up, but I could be fine with three if done right. Anything more than 8 seasons with this show, much like 24, would get redundant.IMO they can squeeze out 2 more seasons, maybe 3, but that would be the absolute limit. Re: Dexter (Season 5)
I don't know how long they can keep it going. I love the show buy this season I was hoping that Dexter would be caught. I would much rather see the show go out with a great season than just fizzle out after reusing the same stories over and over again.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
