I dunno... I don't see anyone buy DVD's anymore. Personally I don't even mess with DVD's at this point...even if it's a movie I've never seen. The difference in price between a blu-ray and DVD really isn't that much.

Exactly. I'll have a Super Bowl party as I do every year with my family and my wife's family and I'll have 2 pairs of 3D glasses. Everyone will give them a try at one point and those that don't have a pair, can watch the game on the 46" DLP that will be in another room. No big deal. After everyone gets a chance I'll switch the TV back to 2D and we'll watch the game like that.

I don't get the hate over 3D either. Maybe it's because some can't afford it and don't want others to have what they can't? I don't know. It's like anything else in life, if you want it and can afford it, get it. If not, don't. We all make a different amount of money so if 3D is within budget now and of interest, I say go for it.

I wonder if it will be possible to get 3D projectors for home theaters?

I am in the process of building a house with a theater room and am still undecided to which way to go between HDTV, 3DTV or projector.

If people can afford it it's their money so i say go for it. I personally want to wait a little while longer to make sure it's going to catch on before making the leap because i would prefer not to pay extra money for something that may end up obsolete. At least you can still watch them a normal HDTV anyway should it not take off anyway.

The first company to invent the "glassesless" 3D tv will be onto a goldmine.

3D ready projectors are already out. Not sure if you'd need anything else besides the 3D-capable blu ray player and glasses.

All I want to know is where is this Walmart at that sales Blu-ray movies for $10 ????? I feel robbed .

Out here all I see is $24.97 for blu-ray at Walmart. The cheapest I ever seen a blu-ray out here at Walmart was $18.50. But then again this walmart don't carry old movies at all. Everything came out this year or last year.

              $10 titles I saw
              Transporter 1
              Transporter 2
              Lord of War
              Die Hard 2
              Cutthroat Island
              Drop Zone
              Crash
              Silence of the Lambs
              Rambo II
              Man on Fire
              Predator
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
              Universal Soldier
              Daredevil
              The Condemned
              + probably another 10 I can't remember

Mainly older titles, but a $10 endcap was setup as well at a $15 endcap

Sam's Club has all the older 007 blu rays for less than $10 each (Goldfinger, Moonraker, Live and Let Die, etc)

It won't be cool until they can beam a light from the bottom and show a 3d image that you can go around it just like the computers in avatar or like Cortana.

Right now when I watch 3d with those glasses, it feels like i'm looking into one of those picture in picture illusions. If you squint your eyes you'll see 3d better.

Although I really want one of those Samsung led's and right now because they beautiful and they already will 3d with it anyway.

Amazon has a 55" inch samsung with a free samsung 3d blu ray player, 2 glasses with monster's vs aliens 3d for $2200. Not bad, no tax and free shipping if your prime member.

My parents don't even have an HDTV yet...

I finally purchased a 23" HDTV myself for my dorm room, but I don't have a Blu Ray Player or anything like that.

I really don't understand what's so great about 3D movies, anyways, to be honest. I like high definition, but I don't see the infatuation with 3D. Maybe I'll eventually catch onto it, though.

It's the added depth that I like. Avatar would not have been the same movie without it.

Avatar in IMAX 3D = best theatrical experience that one can have. You were immersed in the world.

Now ya, My Bloody Valentine and Clash of the Titans were terrible 3D movies. Unfortunately studios are allowing these movies to convert into 3D even though it looks horrendous.(not sure if MDV was, it just sucked in 3D)

Co-sign. Added depth is the key thing. You have to forget the cheesy, stuff flying at the screen towards you, 3D (which is usually done post-production).

A good movie that is shot in 3D, to be shown in 3D, from start to finish is a potential game changer.

Inception in 3D would have been

Personally, I don't see the added depth as adding anything to my movie watching experience. I watched Toy Story in 3D and really wish I had saved my money and watched it in 2D. Avatar is was definitely worth the price of admission and if more movies incorporate 3D that well, then its future is bright. I really hope studios stop converting to 3D in post production, its just terrible and an obvious money grab.

As mentioned, I think 3D movies are worthless unless they are done like Avatar. The added depth in Avatar was INCREDIBLE, particularly on IMAX. I've never had a movie experience like that in my life. But all these movies capitalizing on the Avatar 3D craze with their post production processing don't add any value to their films, IMO. 3D is only worthwhile if the movie was shot entirely in 3D from the jump. That way it actually looks good. It's why I haven't seen a 3D movie since Avatar, and I don't plan on doing so unless the movie was shot in 3D.

As far as 3D at home, having to wear glasses to see it would automatically take away its potential to become popular in the mainstream. I think the 3D needs to somehow be achieved without having to wear glasses, and even then it might be tough for it to be adopted. Like someone said, it isn't really "cool" enough until we get to the point where the images are fully 3D to the point where you can walk around it to see everything. That would be amazing.
