At 6'3" I'd guess around 15-20 pounds. The most revealing freeze frame is when he's talking to Lois between the door. He's wearing a blue T-Shirt that a full bodied profile view reveals less than a six pack, but nothing close to fat. His face shows more fullness too. I could understand him not wanting to put on the Supe Suit.

They have muscle suits that most actors wear under these costumes. Even as bulked up as Brandon Routh was in Superman Returns he still wore some kind of muscle suit under the Superman suit.

Even George Reeves wore a rubber muscle t-shirt under his costume.

Just watched it again on iTunes and it was much better, it actually flowed well and kept it's momentum. I think that is what hurt it last night on network television every time it picked up any kind of momentum and got some good continuity going it would be interrupted by a commercial break which killed everything it had just built up.

I liked it. Growing up with this show may have affected my view on the finale but the only thing I'm really criticizing the finale for is Darkseid. I thought he'd actually manifest physically and have some kind of fight.

If Smallville were on HBO, I think we'd actually get what we want in terms of a Superman show. Because of a limited TV budget though, they had to work around certain things and I understand that. I'm happy we actually got Superman.

Pretty much how I feel. I started watching this show when I was 14 (hard to believe), and haven't missed an episode. I've come to accept the show for what it is, and also accept the fact that we will never get an **** fight. The fight with Doomsday should have shown everyone that while they have potentially great ideas, they also have a limited budget for a superhero show.

Also, the fact that people are complaining about Welling not being shown in the suit is a little ridiculous. How many times over the years has he stated that he did not want to don the suit? I knew we'd likely be getting CGI shots, and for a show on the CW, we got some pretty nice ones at that. The shot of Superman hovering in front of the planet after saving the airplane gave me chills. I also LOVED the use of the classic Williams theme at the end of the episode with Clark running on the rooftop.

Listen, is it everything I wanted? No. It never could be, with the amount of people they wanted to please. They needed to make screentime for everyone to get a proper sendoff. They could have started the Lex storyline earlier, but who knows if Rosenbaum was willing to do so?

After 10 years, I can say that while I am sad to see the show go, I am happy with the sendoff. The only thing I could wish for is a Superman spinoff with the same actors, as I believe the core group (Welling as Supes, Durance as Lois, and Rosenmbaum as Lex) are perfect for the roles. It will never happen, but I can dream.

How was Birds of Prey? I know it lasted only 1 season and always wanted to check it out.

I liked it. I watched every episode. What struck me was that Batgirl was a paraplegic. I don't know if that was part of a current myth in the DC universe at that time. I believe it was the Joker that injured her.

Very well said. I started watching when I was 13 so it definitely feels like I grew-up alongside Clark Kent. To quote a feature written on IGN:

In 2001, many viewers were likely just entering their high school years alongside Clark, and ten years later, they stand on the brink of finding their place in this big, cruel universe… just like Clark.
Smallville had great moments, good moments and some downright awful moments, but it certainly made a mark in my life. I'm glad I got to enjoy 10 years of Clark Kent/Superman and Tom Welling may very-well be "my generation's" Superman.

All the emotional moments struck a chord with me. Him finally embracing his heritage, floating (**** yeah!) then finally, FLYING (**** yeah!!!), then being SUPERMAN made it worth the wait. I can nitpick just like the other guy, but seeing Superman for a few minutes was enough for me since this is about Clark Kent becoming Superman. Story-wise, they delivered well to the point that it felt like a feature-film and if I may say, the best acting we've seen from Smallville.

Smallville may not be the best show to ever grace TV, but it certainly is one of (if not the) best superhero show we've had.

yeah Batgirl, Commish Gordon's daughter, was shot by the Joker and paralyzed (graphic novel named The Killing Joke), then became the all-knowing computer genius Oracle (which Chloe was in Smallville). So that show got it from the comics. I watched the show too, it was pretty interesting, I wished it had lasted longer.

I'm not sure if you guys read much over at the Superman Homepage but regular reviewer (Until Season 9) Neil Bailey has written his response to the finale and provided a retrospective look at the series as a whole. I've enjoyed his reviews for years and years so I was really looking forward to this article. Enjoy.

I just started the show last weekend and am already half way through Season 2. Season 2 is already leaps and bounds better than Season 1 so hopefully it carries on.

I personally think season 3 is far and away the best season of the series. It starts slowly declining after that. But Season 2 is extremely good as well.
