Out of those listed, I only saw The Book of Eli which I still need to pick up on blu-ray.
That movie actually looks good.
I hope people realize that "unoriginal" movies have been made since, like, the creation of spoken word film. I mean, the Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind (now considered timeless classics) were actually based upon books and thus "unoriginal." Every time I hear or read somebody say that Hollywood is in the crapper because of all the remakes and "unoriginal" ideas, I just laugh.

I remember Avatar coming out at Christmas so that's definitely still 2009.
But I agree on the rest and would include Shutter Island and the excellent remake of The Karate Kid. That's a decent list for a year that isn't even over yet.-Rocky Balboa"Maybe I can't win. I was telling my friend the other day that 2010 has been a good year for movies.
I've seen Avatar (yes, it technically came out the last week of 2009, but everyone saw it in 2010), The Book of Eli, Hot Tub Time Machine, Shutter Island, Iron Man 2, Inception, and Salt and had a good time at all (though Iron Man 2 was a bit disappointing).
Hollywood has had overused gimmicks and unoriginal stories since Hollywood was invented.
The article uses the lamest argument ever. In 2040, nobody is going to remember Lame Title 3D or Boring Unoriginal Comedy.
They'll remember Inception, Foreign Movie that Film Snobs Liked, and The Indy Movie Nobody Saw But Later Blew Up And Everyone Loves Now.
I mean, in 2000 who said "Guys, Memento and Requiem For a Dream will make 2000 an awesome year for movies!!!"

For me, 2010 has actually been pretty good: Iron Man 2, Hot Tub Time Machine, Shutter Island, The Road, Kick-***, Inception, Toy Story 3, The Crazies..
And still: The Other Guys, The Expendables, The American, The Social Network, Due Date, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt1 still to come.
Looks like a good year to me.Comment

From the previews, it looks like an **** action movie that knows its an action movie and doesn't try to be anything other than that. So yeah, I'm definitely excited.

Shutter Island and Hot Tub Time Machine are the only movies I've really liked this year. Inception was one of the greatest movies of all time and Toy Story 3 was one of the greatest children's movies of all time. And we're not even into the good part of the year yet. A lot of good-looking flicks coming out soon.Comment
