    I really liked Kick-A**

Horrible marketing really hurt this movie, as far as mass appeal and appreciation for the film. One commercial it was a gritty, violent tale of a real-life wannabe superhero. The next commercial it was a carefree action flick about teenagers.

This was also one of my favorite Nic Cage characters, ever

I thought the movie was awful. A movie about the Cage and daughter story with Kick *** as comedic relief would have been a much better movie.

I agree, it would have been nicer to see more of those two, but Kick-A was the straight man of the story that allowed all of these quirky characters to exist around him without being too over-the-top and repetitive. I never read the comics but I imagine they were written much like the movie was.

I also don't see how doing that would change the movie from "awful" to good. The Cage and his daughter took up a good portion of the movie, which it seems like you enjoyed.

I actually liked Inception better, but wasn't wowed by either one of them.

I'm not the only one who thinks so:

Not that imdb is the know-all of movie ratings (and Inception will inevitably slide down the list), but it is one of the greatest 50 or 100 films ever made. Toy Story 3 is just outside that list of 100, imo.
Pretty presumptuous to declare Inception as one of the greatest movies of all time, based on a list that has The Sting at #100. I liked The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, but don't consider it the 5th Greatest Movie Of All Time. I didn't care for Fight Club and definitely don't consider it the 18th Greatest Movie Of All Time.

I wouldn't bet against someone or a few someones manipulating the system to vote several times.

I loved The Sting. The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly is my favorite movie. And Fight Club is in my top 20.

And why is it presumptuous? Go into the Inception thread and dozens of people are claiming it to be the movie of the year and one of the coolest/best movies they've seen.

Saying Inception is one of the 100 greatest movies made isn't exactly an outrageous statement.

I haven't seen Inception yet, so I can't speak on it. Using a thread from OS however, to justify how good a movie is or how high it should be ranked has to be the worst defense I've ever seen.

                    LOL You're right

Anyway, it being #3 on imdb and reading reviews from critics and also seeing it for myself, I think this movie is one of the greatest films made. My opinion of this film, as you point out, has nothing to do what anyone on OS thinks of it

True. My opinion alone should only matter.

Ratings for newer movies on IMDB are generally pretty inflated.

I like Rotten Tomatoes a little bit more than it.
