Can't agree with this. Hartman was masterful:

Think Ferrell wins just had a larger and lasting body of work, with the emergence of social media and a modestly successful movie career.

Loved Hartman, but would have voted Ferrell also.

Larger on SNL, I don't know. But I'll take Pseudo-Sinatra over cowbell. But I agree that the social media generation probably helped Ferrell. I'm not sure exactly who voted or how it was geared.

          First two shows announced:

September 27: Chris Pratt / Ariana Grande
          October 4: Sarah Silverman / Maroon 5

There is a rumor that Bill Murray would also host in the first three weeks of the season, but NBC has only announced the first two weeks. This rumor also correctly included Chris Pratt and Sarah Silverman.

                October 11 is Bill Hader/Hozier

I think it's too soon for him to host, considering he just left but he's always funny so I can't hate it too much.

TMZ reports that Kenan is leaving after this season. NBC denies, so that's where that's at. Considering he's been on the show for as long as he has and I think he and his wife just had a baby, I'd bet on TMZ being right on this and NBC just not wanting it to be a story yet.

                    Also:
-SNL hired 20-year-old comedian Pete Davidson.
-Mike O'Brien no longer a Featured Player, back to writing staff

It's my last post before other people show up in the thread!
(Really, I hate double-posting, so apologies for that.)

Season premiere tonight with Chris Pratt and Ariana Grande, but even cooler is that to celebrate 40 years of SNL, every week they're going to air an old episode from each season at 10pm EST. Kicks off tonight with Richard Pryor from season one. Next week's "SNL Vintage" is Christopher Walken/Christina Aguilera from season 25.

Was weird seeing Cat on SNL. She didn't sound too good either imo. Didn't catch all of the show, but I did see Weekend Update and thought it was pretty good. Che stumbled through some lines but it's probably just nerves, thought he did fine otherwise I suppose, though the material wasn't that strong. The young guy's skit about going down on a guy was hilarious. That kid is funny. I mean the material was funny but I liked the way he delivered it, had a very stand up[comic] feel to it.
                          PS: You guys are great.

Yeah, watching now. Best weekend update since the last Seth and Stefan for me.

Che is good despite the stumbles and his delivery feels a lot more complimentary with Jost.

I thought this past weeks episode was really good. Loved the Mooney, Pratt, Bennett 90's theme feature.

And Pete Davidson is gonna be frickin star. He was hilarious when he was on the Weekend Update.

Che was really good as well.

I'm looking forward to this weeks too. Man, best time of the year right now: playoff baseball, hockey is almost back, football is back and SNL. I love television.

I really liked that Michael Che and Pete Davidson brought energy to the show. Che stumbled a little but it never threw anything off, and Davidson...what more can you say? He delivered in his debut.
