Re: Superman Man Of Steel
The thing that always gets me, is all those teams-of-superheroes fighting together cartoons. I'm talking about the ones that include Superman. Superman doesn't need any of the others, and he can actually beat them all without even looking. Not to mention that all the others' enemies are just worthless against Superman. What could the Joker do to Superman?
How can Wonder Woman help Superman (except for good company and...)? How can anyone help Superman? Let's face it, if Superman can't beat it, no one can.My Specs:

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I always thought his involvement was more of a moral center and authority rather than strictly for his abilities.

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Maybe you're right, but that's just like waking up your dad just to tell him he can keep sleeping for another hour. What a waste.
Anyway, maybe it doesn't belong here. Maybe it belongs in the "Grinds My Gears" thread. My Specs:

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Reminds me of a joke I posted years ago:
SpoilerSuperman is flying around one day and notices on top of the JLA headquarters, Wonder Woman is doing some nude sunbathing. S'man thinks to himself, "hmmm, I'm Superman.... I could fly down there faster than a speeding bullet, do my business with super speed, and Wonder Woman wouldn't suspect a thing!" So, he proceeds with his plan and flys away just as fast. Superman says to himself, "that was great!" Wonder Woman says, "ohh, what was that!?!"SpoilerAnd the Invisible Man says, "Man! My butt really hurts!"Comment

2nd Boded: She's the only person in the universe (Aside from Superboy Prime and Doomsday before he learned what fear was) who can fight Superman to a virtual standstill. This may have changed with the reboot, as I'm not exactly sure how much they may have nerfed Wonder Woman.
3rd Bolded: This is not true. Superman is damn near helpless against magic and when up against an enemy he can't brow beat (Such as Prime) it relies on others to think up of alternate ways to defeat the enemy (such as Flash, who beat Prime not once, but TWICE, by trapping him in the speed force).
Let's not forget the whole vulnerability to magic thing...Comment

How can anyone help? Because he can't deal with everything...
That's why Justice League Dark started.
Supergirl can kick his *** too...

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Kudos guys, I never really took the time to dig that deep. I'm not that big of a comic fan, so I obviously don't have the "official" knowledge about issue.
I just went by logic alone (which doesn't apply here, apparently).
Sometimes I do feel like going deeper into comics. I do have the first 10 or so issues of Spider Man, but that's about it. I do have a store called Comics America close to where I live. I might check it out some day.My Specs:

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Joker could kill Jimmy and then trick Superman into killing Lois himself and then he'd go crazy, kill Joker and become a dictator then Batman would have to put a beatdown on him...again.
How can anyone help? Because he can't deal with everything...

Also, if that's the same issue I'm thinking of..
SpoilerDidn't (fake)Superman eventually punch her hard enough to knock her unconscious and it required the real Superman to come save her from being killed by heat vision?Last edited by DukeC; 05-20-2013, 05:25 PM.Comment

Especially since different authors have different interpretations of the character and more often than not fluctuate the power levels just because. Aquaman himself has gone through this. He started off a badass....then multiple authors started treating him as a joke character for whatever reason and he's never been able to shake off that reputation since.
His new incarnation has restored him to the badass he used to be (One of the only heroes capable of actually hurting Superman with pure brute strength) but you'll still find people on the internet who treat him as a joke because of said legacy issue as a joke character.Comment
