Re: Superman Man Of Steel
‘MAN OF STEEL 2′ IS ALREADY IN THE WORKS AND WILL BRING BACK ZACK SNYDER
Though ‘Man of Steel‘ won’t be released until Friday, Warner Brothers is so confident in the film they just announced they’ve begun working on a sequel, and have already got screenwriter David S. Goyer and director Zack Snyder lined up to return.
This comes from Deadline, and it matches up with what we’d previously heard about ‘Man of Steel 2.’ But where the actors — like stars Henry Cavill and Amy Adams — are usually signed on for multiple picture deals (sometimes as many as eight films, though in the case of the latest style of franchise-building, that can often mean supporting parts in other superhero movies), the talent behind the camera is rarely locked in for sequels. That they want everyone to return is a good sign.
And with word of mouth about to hit, and with the film expected to do at least $100 million over the course of its opening weekend, the studio is right to press ahead. The big question about this announcement is what it means for the ‘Justice League‘ movie, which was originally targeted for a 2015 launch (but is currently rumored to hit in 2021). Warner Brothers had a writer working on the project, but they were unhappy with his material, and are now back at square one with it. There was word that if ‘Man of Steel’ was a success, they might launch right in to ‘Justice League,’ but perhaps they’re taking a page from Marvel and plan to do more universe-building before the big team up film. Deadline noted that “Goyer’s deal is part of a huge 3-picture deal he signed at Warner Bros for ‘Man Of Steel,’ the sequel, and ‘Justice League’” so it sounds like the game plan is to start on ‘Justice League’ once they’re done with ‘Man of Steel 2.’
Also of note is that Christopher Nolan will be in a more hands-off position for the follow up. Likely he was there to help establish the right tone for the first film, and to get ‘Dark Knight’ fans excited. Perhaps his work here is done. If they have a script idea in place, it’s possible we could see ‘Man of Steel 2′ by 2015.“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

70% on RT so far, but I expect that to climb.
Maybe not the best superhero film of all time, but it could still be the most iconic... and will most definitely be my favorite Superman film of all time.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Oh. My. Rao. Just.......
MOVE THE **** AWAY, Kal-El is here!
I'd love to point out why I loved the movie, but no one will be able to reply to me anyway so I'll save it for when you guys see it. All I can say is, it's emotional, it's sci-fi, it's serious, it's WOW. I couldn't stop geeking out. The best Superman movie yet, and personally, I find it to be way better than any of the Marvel films bar The Avengers -- simply because the Avengers was a culmination of characters we've come to know and there's a certain charm to that.
Compared to Batman, The Dark Knight is still up there but I'd say it's just a notch below it.Last edited by Leon; 06-12-2013, 12:47 PM.Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
I read through a number of the negative reviews and as far as I can tell, they don't like it because:
1. They still look at the Donner films thru rose-tinted glasses and go "Why isn't it like that?"
2. They're not approaching it from the perspective of "There's no Superman film before this" aka a total reboot.
3. Clark/Kal is too serious. Why doesn't he smile all the damn time like Christopher Reeve (see #1). Once you see the film and understand Kal-El's character arc in this movie (you'll understand why I use Kal-El more than Clark), it'll make sense.
4. Action. Action. ACTION!!!!! MINDLESS ACTION!!! OK! The Avengers was a lot of action and (most of) the critics loved that movie. But if Superman does it, it's immediately "oh, boring action." Jeezus. No, I don't think it's mindless.
5. Shannon's Zod ain't as cool as Stamp (see #1) or a charming villain like Hackman's Luthor (see #1). All he does is shout! They must've watched a different movie than I did, because while he DOES shout, we actually understand his motivations and his reason for BEING.
So, I would take their reviews with a grain of salt. The only "negative" reviews I've read so far which I can actually agree with because they analyze the movie for what it is and not thru comparisons to the Donner films are Collider's and the Time's review. The rest are too hung-up on 1978.Comment

Re: Superman Man Of Steel
Talking with the guys who got to go to the screening they ranked it up there with the DK trilogy movies, although right below it. They said well done and most were planning to see it again this weekend."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Just got home from it. Thought it was terrible. Better than Superman Returns, but that's not saying much. There were some cool Easter eggs though...yeah, that's my positives.Comment
