Pretty sure there can only be one Green Lantern on Earth at a time.

I enjoy superhero films where the hero is based on Earth and shows abilities that no other being has on that planet.
If they're running around on other planets, and dozens of people have similar powers, then the character loses some luster, IMO.

I thought it was a mistake trying to make Green Lantern into the next Star Wars (like DC had envisioned).
Actually each Green Lantern is assigned to a sector of space not a planet. Earth is in sector 2814 and there can be more than one Lantern to a sector. The majority of the Lantern stories (Green, Red, Corps, New Guardians) pretty much take place is space.

This has always appealed to me because the stories could be on a more epic, cosmic scale. But that't just me.

I think the Star Wars thing was a good move. The issue with Green Lantern was the writing and poor actor decision.

Let's not forget the campy comedy. I just think the film should be more serious like Thor.

Maybe its just me, but I would welcome a little bit more camp into comic book movies.

Thor still had some camp but I don't know if I ever felt it took away from the film.

Green Lantern just felt like it was forcing comedy on us.

            That's just my take.

I'm not taking up for Green Lantern by any stretch of the imagination, but I just feel ever since the success of TDK that most adaptations have pitched things on a more grounded and serious note when these properties were all meant to be escapes from the grounded reality of today.

Avengers did a very good job with this while also going through the serious tones of the events. Superman just felt too serious and not at all fun or enjoyable.

But seriously, I enjoyed the first M.O.S., so I'll be saving all of my judgement for when I'm watching it opening night in my local movie theater. Eisenberg played Mark Z well, so I don't see why lightening couldn't strike twice. But I am excited to see Gal Gadot as Wonder Women, as I loved her in the Fast movies. But can't wait to see the Supes/Batman movie.

I agree with this, if they were REALLY going for a Star Wars idea maybe they should've streamlined and refined the War of the Green Lanterns event that Geoff Johns wrote (wasn't he involved in the movie as a consultant?) as I think that would've been ripe for a ready made trilogy. It has world building, creating a mythos and space opera stuff that would've been great on the big screen.

Isn't that what it seemed like they were going towards with the Yellow matter or whatever it was (I forgot a large part of that movie)...it just sucked so bad that they didn't go through with it?

I just seem to recall some yellow lantern hints or appearances and some discontent amongst the lanterns and such.

I think they - meaning Hollywood - needs to stop with the origin stories. Be done with it. Good writing can explain some back story. Enough with using up a whole movie to explain how a person came to be.

For once I would like to know that whatever new Batman movie comes out actually jumps into it.

                        Same with Spider-Man.

Would be nice if a new Green Lantern already has his powers and is in the middle of some real serious ****. Throw me into that world. We will figure it out.

I have always had a fondness for Superman. The fact that he could have anything he wished without anyone being able to stop him is nothing short of a fantastic idea to me. What makes him an awesome character is the fact that instead of taking over, he uses these powers to help and save people. This is especially powerful in a world and society like ours that makes it all right to beat other people down and take what they have. A society that thrives on I am better because my car is more expensive drives me crazy. I hope they continue with these movies and create a series of movies like they did with Batman. I think with modern movie technology that they could make some amazing movies.

It looked more like they were just concentrating on the Parallax entity rather than the creation of a whole yellow lantern corps. The hint of Sinestro going rogue was definitely put out there but the whole presentation of the movie was just.....bad.

Ah, okay. Like I said - I have forgotten just about everything from that movie aside from Blake Lively.
