Idris Elba would be a good John Stewart.

I really can't express my dislike for Eisenberg enough.
He annoys me so incredibly much that it was very hard for me to like movies such as Facebook, Now You See Me or Zombieland.

He's the more depressing, cheaper and uglier version of Michael Cera.

One person who I think would make a great LL is Tim Oliphant.

I think you'll be surprised by Eisenberg's acting if you give it a legitimate chance.

Those movies you named, he played that character fantastically well - but yes, they were sort of the same character. It's not like we're talking some young dude who's never acted before. He's the same age as Cavill.

If you go in thinking you'll hate it, you most likely will even if it's a perfectly fine performance. He may not turn into Ledger's Joker, but who legitimately would - in any film?

Also, to be completely fair (forgot to add this side I'm on my phone)... Isn't Luthor basically someone that you want to hate and aren't really... "afraid of"? He's just the egotistical sociopath behind the scenes pulling strings that you just want to rip his throat out. Eisenberg can do that (Social Network he already played what amounts to a sociopath that you hope gets what's coming to him.)

I guess it depends on the character and actor.
I've pretty much liked LL in all of his forms; Donnor, cartoons, Superman Returns, Smallville...

            Everyone likes a good scoundrel.

There are only a few actors that make me dislike a film, or distract me from the movie.
Maybe the reason why I dislike Eisenberg is because he reminds me of a younger, slimmer version of John Favreau.
Watch "Swingers" again, and tell me they don't look alike.
And I really disliked his character in that movie. Such a snivelling wiener.
And with Eisenberg doing a poor Cera impression, the dislike just grew.

I'll still watch the movie, but I'll probably just close my eyes, stick my fingers in my ears and yell out "La, la, la" anytime Eisenberg is on screen, haha.

It's like saying William H. Macy is a better actor than Gary Oldman.

Except William H. Macy has been in several dramatic roles that he has excelled in and doesn't really share characters that are similar to Oldman's.

                  Cera has very little range.

I still find it amusing when people hate actors because of the character they played who was supposed to be annoying.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone compliment an actor for playing annoying so well. Most audiences just automatically dislike the actor and forget it was a role.

It's just amusing and interesting to me.

I wouldn't say one is better than the other, only that they have similar styles.
Both actors are the exact same in every single role they've ever had.

Both have 2 emotions; asleep and awake.
I just find Cera less annoying when he plays awake.

Idris Elba, now THAT'S a great actor!

I always thought Green Lantern could be a really cool movie. The last one was absolutely horrendous.
Hopefully they can reboot it and keep it grounded on earth.
Casting Elba is definitely a great start.

Keeping it ON EARTH was the worst thing about Green Lantern. They're SPACE COPS for crying out loud!

As for rebooting it, no need. They're CORPS for a reason. Put John Stewart in, Hal's still around somewhere off-screen and can come back in the future.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the mythos of Green Lanter, specifically Ryan Reynolds character.

But I was under the impression that each Green Lantern is assigned to a planet?

I enjoy superhero films where the hero is based on Earth and shows abilities that no other being has on that planet.
If they're running around on other planets, and dozens of people have similar powers, then the character loses some luster, IMO.

I thought it was a mistake trying to make Green Lantern into the next Star Wars (like DC had envisioned).
