    Re: For Colored Girls

As a brotha who's only liked about 3 of his films. I think this is more crap, I'm sorry!!! Why is every movie with our people in it, has our brotha's beating their women, going to jail and then making all colored girls as he wrote it. Seem like they are always the victim. So tired of his portrayals of us in so many negative ways.

Not seeing this crap!!! He really needs new material and definitely something less depressing.

I cant blame Perry for this movie though. This movie is based on a book/play that has men beating on women and women being treated poorly.

        Re: For Colored Girls

the Tyler Perry brand is a money printing machine. I rewrites, refilms, and recycles the same formula over and over again. For me its not so much that I don't like what he does because his movies are somewhat entertaining. its the fact that if you've seen one movie you've seen them all. I have been dragged into a theatre to see a handful of his movies and I don't care for any of them.

having said that, "Why Did i get Married" was an excellent commedy. I laughed throughout. Not sure I would laugh on the second viewing, but yeah....otherwise I can't stand T Perry

When is Zane gonna option some books for movies? lol

i've watched his plays and his movies i like them mostly a family that prays was prob his best . he's in the same mold of the Terry chick who writes books. I don't hate against him most of his plays are about black men , cheating or lying or something to that effect. But there has been positive movies with black men in them its just a shame he hasn't made one yet.

Well if he did that he would lose his female fanbase. His success is based off the fact his movies and plays appeals to women who are either single moms or have been cheated on or done wrong by men.

Pretty much the daily talk you would hear at a beauty salon. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

I totally agree with you! And they wonder why we date other races and cultures. Too much of this negativity has been going on for so long. And the stereotypes never end.

Especially when we are tagged by a color, not a persona. He really needs to step up and give us a positive image. And for once show our sisters they can be strong without being violently ignorant on top of it. Those same sad women who like this crap, act off what they see and cause more issues in real life. TP's plays and movies are more powerful than he knows.

He needs to really make a positive film at some point a true love comedy without all the violent content to lead to other turnarounds.

I don't find any of Tyler Perry's work the least bit funny or entertaining. But then again, I'm far from being considered a part of his "target market" so to speak.

                    Re: For Colored Girls

Here are the official imdb ratings (out of 10) for every film he has directed.

First, his early works which were all straight to video:

                    3.4 (out of 515 votes)
                    3.4 (out of 595 votes)
                    3.3 (out of 464 votes)
                    3.4 (out of 481 votes)
                    2.7 (out of 329 votes)
                    3.6 (out of 669 votes)
                    2.7 (out of 383 votes)

Now, his mainstream stuff that was in theaters:

                    3.8 (out of 5,387 votes)
                    3.8 (out of 3,681 votes)
                    4.2 (out of 5,813 votes)
                    3.1 (out of 3,371 votes)
                    3.7 (out of 3,365 votes)
                    3.1 (out of 5,492 votes)
                    2.6 (out of 4,810 votes)
                    2.7 (out of 2,993 votes)

None of his films have cracked the imdb bottom 100 list (the list of the 100 worst movies ever made) but since #100 on that list is rated at 2.5 (out of 2,992 votes) he isn't too far away.

                    Simply put, this guys sucks.

I saw the Family That Preys and liked it just enough for my fiancee to dupe me into seeing the one that came after that (Why did I Get Married I think). It was terrible. It's like he makes one just not awful enough to go see a second one.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

I've bashed him as much as anyone for that, so today I say kudos for losing the ego.

As for the title.......didn't that term lose it's political correctness a long time ago?

The book was written in the late 60's when the term was being used.

in all fairness most of his movies werent seen in all major cities or towns or spent very little time in the theater.

Liked the early plays, but not a fan of the movies. Mainly because the plot is always the same. So if you've seen one, you've see 'em all.

I seriously doubt most of those votes came from people that ACTUALLY saw the movies. Just Tyler Perry haters. His target audience that actually go watch the movies aren't the ones that usually log on to imdb.com and vote.
