Still doesn't change the fact that the guy sucks. There are plenty of other independent and/or low budget film makers out there who continually put out good films. Jim Jarmusch, Darren Aronofsky, Wes Anderson, Richard Linklater, Sofia Coppola and Rian Johnson are all fine examples. Hell, even the Coen Brothers and Quentin Tarantino started out as shoestring budget, indie film makers and now put out some of the best films in recent memory.

EDIT - How the hell did I forget to mention Paul Thomas Anderson? Arguably the best of the bunch...

Wow, didn't know there was that much hate for the guy. I think it's because I'm married and my wife isn't the typical female that watches this stuff. I think his movies are over the top, but what movie isn't nowadays. I personally thought that Why Did I Get Married was a pretty nice movie to watch with my wife. It gave me the vibe of an old comedy I'd watch in the 90s with a bunch of friends. I do agree that his work could use more originality but I do also think that people bank too much on movies nowadays. Since I have Netflix, I'm satisfied with what I get.

On another note, I thought the movie Daddy's Girls or whatever it was called portrayed a hard working African-American brother who was focused in staying true to his manhood and picking up the slack? Just as any other movie, you can find negatives and positives. I do think that people let movies get a little too close to their mental capacities and skew their thinking. I, however, am only looking for entertainment. If this movie is worth watching on DVD/BD, then I will put it in the queue just like every other movie I'm interested in watching with my wife.
