For under $200, you get losssless audio and 3 HDMI inputs. I'm a big fan of Onkyo receivers.

FYI: For those using a lot of remotes, Best Buy will have the Harmony 650 for $50.

A $178 price tag seems too low. Is it getting bad reviews or something?

No, I think it's just their budget receiver. Doesn't have as many bells and whistles as their other models but has everything most people would need.

Sony and Yamaha have similarly priced entry level receivers but I'd go with Onkyo.

Well I want some bells and whistles lol. I don't need/want a receiver that's high end, but somewhere in the middle.

To take advantage of Sam's Club deals, do you have to be a paying member? Or can I just like sign-up online and order something?

The 508 at $249 http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR508...9991218&sr=8-3 7.1 channels, 80 watts per channel vs. 60 watts on the other

The 608 at $379 http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR608...dp_ob_title_ce 7.2 cannels, 100 watts per channel , THX certified, Audyssey auto calibration

Really depends on how much you want to spend. These boys need plenty of space to breathe. Get rather warm.

These Black Friday deals have sucked IMO. Nothing blockbuster here.

It would probably be plenty for my daughter, at least I would thinik so.

Unless you are an audio expert, even the low end Onkyos have more buttons and features than you need. I got the one with speakers from Walmart for $248. Too many listening/customization options to list. The thing even has a menu that I can see on my TV to set speaker distances, db output per channel, rename audio ouptuts, etc, etc.

That is enough for my wife.

Does Amazon offer similar deals to doorbusters on Black Friday?

The 608 looks like something I want. Maybe it will drop to around $325 within a month or so.

Haha. That's funny. I noticed an ad at Radio Shack and they have a TV for cheap but in small print it says 1 per store.
