Oh I know. I was at my girlfriend's mother's house. And I am similar to my GF's mothers fiance as far as certain shirts not wanting to get wrinkled. He is a firefighter in CT by the way. Well he hangs his shirts on a rack sometimes so they do not wrinkle (and take up the ladies room for their stuff), and her mom complained about it, and I mentioned I do the same thing...

Well her grandmother then looked at me and said, "you got a lot to learn". Needless to say I am going through the "learning process" now too.

    Anywho, back on topic...

I want a Sony so bad, but do not want to break the bank so to speak. Heavily leaning towards a Panny Plasma, just for the great picture quality and size for the buck.

        How do you like it?

Can you give a quick review with gaming and movies? Maybe pics?

So far I love it, It's incredibly smooth, the colors are vibrant and the blacks are really black. All I can say for now as I haven't had much time to watch it

            Re: Plasma or LCD?

We bought a 46 inch Samsung Plasma 1.5 years ago, but I noticed that when I play 360 or PS3 on it now, the image retention/burn-in last for almost an hour now. We decided to move this into the bedroom, and went out and bought a new Vizio 55 inch LCD for $1000 this weekend. I did have to turn off the motion blur/smooth motion option, but once I did that, there is no visible lag at all in live sporting events or video games( also no burn in )

The Vizio was so easy to set-up, and we do not exactly hate the difference in size going a 46 inch to 55 inch!

That's good that you are enjoying the Vizio. I was looking at the Vizio's when we were at Walmart and they looked really nice. My only complaint is that I do not like the new aesthetic look on the left and right side of these being very thick looking.

I am all over the place with these darn TV's. Before I was thinking Sony and Samsung, but now I'm tossing LG into the mix as I've seen their 55" model for a few hundred less at places than the Sony and Samsung. At this point I'm thinking getting something a little bit cheaper might be better.

It can be very overwhelming, but continue down the path you are heading. It takes time, research, and face time with each tv, to make sure you are getting what YOU want. We invested probably 20 hours into our purchase this time. We drove all over the place, looking at different models, and prices. We did our research on the net, and wrapped all that together..........

                  Re: Plasma or LCD?

Yep, the purchases definitely start with the research. Once its in your house the comparison stuff goes out the window anyway.

As he just said, make sure it has everything that YOU want.

I've seen the 50 inch Panny plasma's... Man they are sweet.

Same for the Samsung 50 inch plasma's

I only saw one Vizio with a bad picture but it was a much smaller non LED one. Looked worse than a westinghouse except for the blur

I have both kinds, although Id love to have a Bravia for their frame technology but its all up to you

I'm in the market for a new tv right now and I have been doing my research for a while but I went out yesterday to do some comparisons and came back much more confused. Looking to spend under 700 and will be making the purchase at BB only. Right now I am considering the Panny plasmas but I just wanted to ask this first. I am a fan of the Samsung LCDs but the prices are a little out of my range on the 120hz ones. How much of a difference is there between 60 and 120 on the LCDs? This will be my primary tv...so sports, gaming, and blu-rays would factor into my purchase.

IMO..........the difference between 60hz and 120 hz is pretty big. I almost went with the Vizio 240hz( they even had a Toshiba 480hz) as the processor is a very big deal. The other very important thing to keep in mind is the contrast ratio(the higher, the better).

You'll want to go 120Hz if at all possible. Those extra Hz is to try and minimize motion blur.

By default, a 120Hz tv is going to be newer and have more features.

Okay, I've settled on the Samsung LN40C670. Went to Best Buy today and it just flat out looked better than the other TV's. On sale for $899 as well.

Fish, are you replacing your main TV? That is a good price for that.....these prices just keep getting slashed so its good for us consumers.

Adding a new TV in our living room. We've never had a TV there before. I wanted a 46 but it would have just been too big for the room. I wish Samsung made LCD in 42, I would have liked it a little bigger.

How big is your room? The LCD sizes have really taken a jump with Samsung as it goes from 40" to 46" to 55". Those in-between sizes like when they had the 42" and 52" were nice.
