Yeah, I've gotten over that initial excitement of wanting it NOW. I am still pumped, but I need to take my time. I'm reading a ton of reviews but it's starting to make my head spin.

The bigger screen size is enticing. I've seen companies like Westinghouse and Element selling their 55's for around what it would cost to get a 46 from a brand like Samsung or Vizio. It's just hard to trust names that you don't really know, though maybe they're solid TV's.

#4 is probably a pipe dream due to the price. It is definitely going off of my budget but I could push back on my time frame and save another couple hundred bucks from now until then to make up the difference. Of course, would it still be there then, at that price? Or I could say the hell with it and just pay the price as is, right now. I'm thinking that one might be a bit of a long shot, but it's in the discussion. In my very limited knowledge, I would venture to guess that it's the best TV of the four.

1-3... Love them all, and could see myself picking up any one of them. That LG Plasma is extremely tempting and I almost bought it last night, but held off.

#2 is the most cost effective TV. Out of these four, it's probably the one that I'm least excited about, but that's not saying much considering I love all four TV's.

#3... That's where I started thinking about the 55". If the price is right, why not? It would fit in the location that I want to put it in.

So, there's my Final Four. Of course I'll still keep my eye out, but after some research, these seem to be four very viable options for me... I appreciate all of the help and hope that I get some feedback on this from the TV gurus here.

If ambient light isn't an issue, I'd go with the plasma.

Keep in mind, almost everyone would recommend you use kid gloves on a plasma the first 100 hours or so....ie. the break in period.

Nothing overly dramatic just common sense stuff.

I have never dealt with any so I have no idea. I have always bought my sets brand new. I'm sure you can check out the AVS forums regarding that topic though. Those guys know EVERYTHING. And I mean EVERYTHING.

Even if ambient light is an issue (like it was with me) a good set of blackout curtains is a cure all in that department. Five words: Robert Eclipse at JC Penny.

And you don't need to baby plasma sets nearly as much anymore as you did back in the day. I can attest to that fact.

I have absolutely ZERO regrets about converting to plasma last summer.

                    Just get that sucker calibrated!

I am 95 percent certain that I'm getting that LG plasma tonight. The price is great and it's still within the budget.

I think the search is over. I loved that TV the first time I saw it online and it gets very good reviews at other sites, too.

It will arrive at my doorstep on March 21.

Feel pretty damn good about it!

If you have any issues with glare or excess lighting, these will save your life:

                          http://www.amazon.com/Eclipse-42-Inc...=operasport-20

As for calibration, just break in your set for the first 100+ hours on the default settings and then get some settings off of the AVS forums. If you are completely happy with your picture at that point (most folks other than us die-hards are) then don't worry about it. A top notch, professional calibration WILL improve your set in ways that you simply cannot accomplish on your own or with any of those DVD or Blu-ray programs that they sell, but it will run you a pretty penny. In your care, almost half the price of your TV.

                              Thanks guys!

It just felt like the right decision to make after reading and participating in this thread. I really appreciate all of the knowledge, wisdom and feedback from you all.

It's TOUGH not to have buyer's remorse at times, but that's normal. At work today, all I could think was, "I rushed it! There's a better TV out there for a better price!" But then I remembered this thread and the reviews that I read for this TV and I know my choice was the right one. Especially for the price. I feel like I've been patient enough and the time to buy is now.

I'll have a friend help me with mounting it. He does great work and will be able to hide the cables as well. I am a little perplexed on what I'll do as far as storage. I am going to have to buy something to put under the TV to store the PS3 and 360 in. I thought I could install some shelving near the TV on the wall, but I think that might look lame. But if I could figure something like that out, the wife would be happy because she could still put our son's toys under the TV. I am thinking that I am going to have to buy some kind of stand or book case, though. If you guys have any suggestions on that front, I'll surely listen.

I'll be sure to take and post pictures here when it's all set up.

Sorry for asking this guys, but I am going to order a mount in the next day (or sooner, if I can). I am going to be cornering this TV in the picture I posted a page or two back, so I'll need some flexibility.

I'd prefer to order it though Amazon and was wondering what you guys thought of this mount:

                                http://www.amazon.com/Sanus-Systems-...p_ob_e_title_0

Good price, but it might not do the trick... Thoughts?
