Im certain you can find some nice ones out there

Samsung makes a great one.. (we have one here in the office) so I'd reccommend it to anyone that wants one. It looks great!

    Sharp, Panasonic and LG also

Which type of Samsung is it? This is the one that I have in mind; Samsung UN55ES8000 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D Slim LED HDTV, but its a little more than I want to spend.

I believe its the 120 Hz model... Illl try to take a pic for you

Edit... actually its the 240Hz model but I dont think it will be that big of a difference...

I also have a buddy who has a non 3D version and the tv is smooth

Dont think you could go wrong either way

I'm wondering when that next price shift is going to occur? We saw the drastic drop in price of the 50" sets... 55" and up are now carrying the premium price tags

Nice thread, never noticed it before as I'm not in this forum much. We've got a 46" Samsung that has a panel going out (one of the models w/ bad capacitors, but now an irregular shadow on left side of screen has developed, and have seen a line periodically on the right side from top to bottom) so have started watching the 50-55" prices.

Crazy how 'affordable' some of the larger TVs have gotten, especially at the very low end.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread

I have a top of the line Sharp LED model, 60 inch, a 60 inch Panasonic plasma, and a 40some inch Sony LCD. I can say from experience, gaming wise, that plasma is much better. However, from a watching TV standpoint, I would go LED/LCD, unless you're watching everything in HD. Plasma's don't work well with SD.

The colors on my plasma are far and beyond what they are with my Sharp, and they are both professionally calibrated. If you're getting plasma, go Panasonic, if you want LED, go Sharp or Samsung.

I wouldn't spend any money on a TV right now anyways, because OLED is going to change the world!

If I save up an avoid my new tv for 3 years, the price will be more affordable and worth it. They won't have that big price tag for long...

Exactly. You're talking 3-4 years and maybe it'll be down to a more reasonable price. Who's going to wait that long if they need a tv NOW?

Buy a plasma, they're cheap and better for gaming...if you're careful and don't leave call of duty multiplayer screen on for 24 hours lol

I would still use game mode. Go to AVS and try find some calibration settings for your tv. If its a top model, there will be plenty of settings. If its a lower end model, there should be some even.

Just joined the 55" club: http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/TC-L55ET5

Got it with a free 24" Panasonic for 1232.00 from Sears. Just ordered a Cheeta Mount wall mount from Amazon for it. It will all be here Tuesday....

I know this probably gets asked frequently...but I am looking for a 37" to 42" HDTV for my one person apartment. Any suggestions on the lower end of pricing? I see a lot on Amazon but figure I'd ask here because I play NBA 2K12 and MLB The Show and want a TV that can handle that stuff without a ton of delay (or a solid game mode).
