Not sure how prices compare, but Target has 10% off all TVs through the Cartwheel app - https://cartwheel.target.com/f/jolly...ng=RET&afid=EM
In store only it looks likeComment

I agree....Vizio is a good way to save a bit but still have something quality...I'm personally not a picky videophile, so I'm not going to care about the minor differences tbhNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Personally I might get a VIZIO M or P series, but would NOT go below to their other letters in the series (D, E, etc) But that goes with Samsugn as well, I wouldn't buy anything other than the ks8000.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I've researched the crap out of this. VIZIO is very good and bests many brands including samsung and sony with their M and P lineups. Samsung's ks8000 beats Vizio though, but for straight up film watching the Vizio P series gets a higher rating than any other TV outside of OLED's.

Had the Vizio P and returned it and got the ks8000. The Vizio was nice, but had too many limitations especially for HDR gaming. Like you said for dark movie watching it's great, but the Samsung ks8000 is overall better. I was never wowed with the picture of the Vizio and I can't say the same with the ks8000. With that said it's a nice tv if you're ok with HDR gaming at 45 ms input lag.

I agree, and price becomes a factor - however there is an interesting discussion around this input lag for HDR
1000ms = 1 sec, so if we divide 1000 by 60 (for 60fps games) we get 16.6 - so effectively 45ms lag equates to just under 3 frames. so even with a 20ms lag, you're effectively talking about 2 frames or 32ms in terms of performance because that would = 2 frames. In other words, half-frames don't matter. I think I'd be fine with that. Vizio is saying now that they are attempting to reduce this with future firmware, although I'm not sure that's entirely possible. To me anything below 50ms is 'passable'.
Were you saying you weren't wowed by either tv? or that you were wowed by the samsung - it was tough to understand - I think you were indeed wowed by the samsung how i read it.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Yea I get what you're saying. Those small MS don't seem like much but it's definitely noticeable especially with fps or games like MLB the show. When I play on tv's near 50ms I hit too many foul balls because I'm a little late due to the input lag where on a set near 20ms I'm always swinging on time. As far as being wowed I was saying that I watched a lot of content on the Vizio p and wasn't wowed as opposed to the Samsung which has wowed me. The Vizio is a good tv, but the Samsung looked better to me and had less gaming limitations. The Vizio is a FALD tv so for night time movies it was great.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
H8C owners, should I be getting Man in the High Castle in 4K through the built in Amazon app?
Edit - Found the special UHD section -_-
Is HDR only available from something like a blu ray play or Roku?Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 12-23-2016, 12:51 PM.Comment

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread
I have a 10-year old Samsung Plasma in our main living room that's starting to show it's age. It doesn't seem to translate darks as well as it once did, and there's a very thin, vertical line on the right-side of the screen. It's not that noticeable but I fear my baby is about to get worse.
I've researched the crap out of this, and from my experience Samsung's are terrific for bang-for-buck.
The KS8000 is currently on sale at BestBuy for $1800 ($800 off).
I'm thinking of jumping in. This TV looks absolutely gorgeous and I've seen several members here swear by this TV.
The only negative I keep reading is the poor viewing angles. But the room where it'll be placed is mostly straight-on viewing so I don't think it'll be too much of an issue.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Just saw that the KS8500 is only $100 more than the KS8000.
I wonder if that would solve the angle issue? Anyone have a curved and regret it?Last edited by Money99; 12-25-2016, 11:38 AM.Comment

You'd be getting what I would consider one of the two best TVs out there right now (I consider the KS8500 the same just curved). I recently saw this TV in person at a friend's house and it's terrific.
I don't think you'd regret this purchase at all.

Some of these sites, like rtings.com are a bit too critical I think. And they don't always agree on each other.
Looking at Bestbuy.com, the KS8000 has nearly 1000 reviews and the average is 4.7/5. That's good enough for me.
Plus, I really like the Samsung brand and have three of them in my house and I love all of them.
But it's still nice to hear favourable reviews from people who share similar interests.
Thanks sroz!Last edited by Money99; 12-25-2016, 12:47 PM.Comment

You won't regret your purchase. It's a great tv. The viewing angles are nothing like plasmas I'll admit, but as long as you don't sit too far off to the side you'll be fine. The ks8500 is the curved version and it'll be the same as far as viewing angles. I got the ks8000 since I'm not a big fan of curve TVs.
