Really funny was that I was watching the US in the Women's Curling Championships when i was just appreciating the era of TVs we live in lol

Yeah its amazing. One nice thing about Bumblebee is that it's 16:9 in 4k so no black bars.

Never had a plasma or oled. Worried about burn in or if it's worth it. TVs all work great just a impulse buy at a good price.

I don't know OLED technology, but I mentioned what I did with my plasma to avoid burn-in, stubborn IR, and uneven wear. To re-echo, I watch sports w/ logos, play games w/ HUD's, and watch movies w/ black bars... at 12,732 hours now, and I don't have a hint of any of those three things.

IMO, the three biggest things to help remedy this are:

                  1) Vary your content.

                  2) Break-in your television (you can do this with slides or varied content that doesn't contain logos, sports tickers, etc.) for the first 100+ hours.

                  3) Don't run torching out-of-the-box settings. Proper calibration would take care of this just fine as well.

I don't think that it should be a worry, but I think proper care early on should help alleviate your worries.

Thanks! I pulled the trigger....I couldn't resist the price. $1799 for that TV is a steal. I'll try breaking it in before really getting into games.

Not a myth, but not like Plasma. Older models definitely had it, new models have it occasionally but mostly appears to be a defective panel.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

I'm trying to get my parents setup with a covered patio TV/audio setup. It will feature a TV and an Echo Dot that run to a little DAC amp, and then to speakers.

They are just wanting to move a 9 year old LCD outside and get a new TV inside to replace that one

That is the TV. It will be optical audio out, and convert to RCA via a converter. My question is does anyone have any idea if I do it this way will I be able to change the volume with the TV remote when using TV sound? Or does the TV just send the audio out and expect the amp to handle the volume?

I'm not sure really.....I tend to think that it lets the speaker/soundbar/receiver/etc control its own sound but I'd have to test. I know my TCL tv remote controls my soundbar, but I forget if it's using digital audio or hdmi. It may be digital audio, so not sure....You'd probably want to test first.
