I'm a huge supporter of Netflix, but I've been impressed with what Amazon Prime offers.

Really, if Prime had an app for the PS3, I'm not sure I'd need Netflix (except that Netflix will have its own shows soon so I guess that's a reason to stick around).

I tried this last month and the wife vetoed it after a few weeks. She'd rather watch her horrible Kardashians then save $100 per month.

My wife was opposite. She was glad to see it go. As far as she's concerned the entire TV could go and she'd be happy. Although she does enjoy watching her Dog the bounty Hunter Show.

Is that show not on Hulu, Hulu plus or Netflix instant streaming?

If not, there are much cheaper ways of finding any tv show.

Just blow this up to the size of your TV screen. The eyes follow you wherever you go, so it looks like they're on.

OK, so I'm ready to pull the plug on DirecTV; I already feel I'm paying too much and now the 4% increase is just the icing on the cake.

I have Netflix on my PS3, as well as MLB.tv and will be adding Hulu Plus. So, that covers me in terms of most TV shows, movies and baseball games.

What do you guys do for watching other sports?

I'm thinking of getting an antenna for my TV to pick up the local channels, so that should cover the NFL, but I'd like to watch College Football/Basketball and the NBA as well. Any options there?

I have the ESPN app on my 360, but all I can watch on that are highlights, as I don't have a fast-enough speed to stream games (I live in an older neighborhood, but not sure if that matters?), evidently. Can I call my Internet provider and upgrade to a higher speed to be able to stream?

If I get that figured out, that should cover just about everything. MLB.tv is great, aside from the fact I can't watch Rockies games live due to local blackouts, but thankfully I'm a Mets fan, too, so at least I can watch those games.

No you don't, that's how I get my sports now days. And if I wanted to shell out the dough I could NHL and NFL on the PS3 now.

Good. Now I just gotta figure out if I can get ESPN3 to work properly on my 360. I can stream MLB games on my PS3 and heck, I was able to watch the UFC PPV last week on my 360, but when I call up ESPN3, it says it's not supported by my current Internet setup. I'm guessing they require a faster speed than what my DSL is currently.

It sucks but I just live with it. It's not worth it in the long run for me.

No. But I meant in order to avoid their restrictions.

Those are solutions but they aren't the best options for local fans.

How are you guys saving so much money?

I've wanted to do this but we only pay about $130 for both digital cable and roadrunner+ (TW). If I cut cable, I'd only save about $70/month. And that's not counting what I would have to start paying for Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Plus, I miss out on just about all my local sports aside from the NFL.

I can't make the numbers work.
