It's kind of a hogwash here. You want things explained, but you don't want them to be explained too early. I think Person of Interest decided to do some things "too soon" that should have been done much later, which IMO makes newer "changes to come" much weirder as a result.

The show is only like five episodes in. I'd rather let this play out for a while.

I understand wanting to keep somethings a mystery but the criminal of the week stories are so awful all i can think about is the back story questions. I dont know how long this show will last though. It took a huge ratings hit this week, if it keeps dropping that much it will be done for.

I'm not feeling this show, gave it 4 episodes and I'm dropping it. I'm just not caring about this cast or feeling the chemistry. The mystery does'nt keep me at the edge of my seat or at least give me that WTF moment that wants more.

Yeah, the show isn't that great. I keep thinking of changing the channel (or falling asleep), but I want to hold onto hope with it.

I'm still watching, but I dislike how they spend more time developing these one-off secondary characters than they do with the main characters.

I'll watch the rest of the season, it's alright for a show. I love Alcatraz so that alone will keep me interested for one season if things don't pick up.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

I've been watching and will finish out the season, but I'm not in love with it. I grew tired of the MOTW in the early seasons of Fringe but the main characters made it easy to stick around.

I haven't watched it since the Pilot, has it got any better? Mainly the Characters? That was my main turnoff.

This show may be making the same mistakes that doomed Dollhouse. They slowed played it in the beginning(with heavy interference from the network) spending so much time trying to lay the groundwork, that they lost too much of their initial audience because of apathy toward the characters. That show eventually found its footing and became great, but it was too late as the axe had already fell.

I'm invested in the mystery of the disappearance and return, so I'll hang around even though the main characters aren't being adequately developed.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Again, it's only five episodes in, so I think that it's unfair that we have to assume that a television show, which could always potentially run maybe 100 episodes long, already has to start revealing everything to us.

The only way this would be different is if they announced it as a one-time miniseries, but there are over 300 prisoners and guards missing, and they only do one person per episode for the most part.

Though at the same time, I don't want this to end up being like 100 Good Deeds for Eddy McDowd, where we never get to see the final revelation.

(just kidding about the Eddy McDowd thing btw lol)

if they do one episode for each person that went missing it would take over 15 seasons. one thing i can guarantee about alcatraz is that it wont last 15 seasons so they will have to speed it up at some point.

Or they just burn off a bunch of the missing people in one episode that reveals them all to be dead. I highly doubt we ever see all of the missing

I know, but I'm just saying that with the style this show is going, I don't think it's going to only last for 20 episodes. For people to be asking that more is revealed only five episodes into a show that could potentially have dozens of episodes is kind of bad... because what happens when it's revealed? Now they're going to ask for more. This was, of course, the problem with LOST.

Well, if a show only has one season of mystery material then it's a poorly planned show.

Every show should be revealing something every episode. That's what keeps audiences.

I won't say much of the quality of Alcatraz bc I haven't seen it and I have no interest in trolling the thread, but from the drop in viewership and what I've been reading, people are getting turned off by having to wait.

Theres far too much television to expect people to sit and wait for answers.
