    Re: X-Men: First Class

Think the only FX I really had an issue with in First Class was the stupid tornados from Riptide.

I have no fix, other than to not use that character. It's not like small spontaneously generated tornados would be easy to visualize.

Yeah, there were some pretty turn-off moments in the film for sure. Even the makeup department with Beast was awful.

Maybe its just me, but the idea of seeing sentinels on screen has me giddy. The original trilogy dropped the ball on that regard. It also dropped the ball on the Phoenix Saga as well since it used some of that.

I enjoyed that version as well. I mean, even though Shadowcat was left out of that series completely for whatever reason they did a pretty good job of it still with Bishop being the time traveller.

Well, I would imagine that it would be really difficult to incorporate either major saga. Comic books have the convenience of running things over multiple months andmultiple cross-over titles. What the hell can you do with a movie that will probably need to wait at least a year in between installments?

As we just mentioned, the Animated Series did it over the course of two 30 minute episodes (about 23-25 if you count commericals), I'm sure the movie could get it done with a 90-100+ minute runtime.

Apples and oranges. The logistics in a live action movie are infinitely more complicated.

                  Re: X-Men: First Class

Bad news on the X-Men front. Matthew Vaughn, the director of X-Men First Class, has decided not to return for the sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past. He'll still produce the film and Bryan Singer, the film's producer and director of the first two X-Men movies, might be stepping in to direct in Vaughn's stead. The film…

Matthew Vaughn out as director. Bryan Singer could step in.

I know Singer did well with the first two films, but First Class had a little bit of a different tone I thought.

I don't like it. Vaughn brought a more...real...tone to the movie. Singer's movies felt like X-Men movies with superheroes and everything. First Class felt like an actual movie, with some kids with powers as the cast.

                      If that makes any sense.

I agree. Vaughn gave the movie a more grounded feeling that wasn't there in Singer's movies. That being said the first X-men movie was awesome as well

I'll wait to see who gets the nod as director before really jumping off the ledge.

He's still on as producer so he's not completely leaving the project. As long as the story is good and they don't revert back to all black and gray color scales like in X1 and 2, I'm not worried. Singer can do X-Men well. Superman Returns was crap, though.

People seem to forget that Bryan Singer kicked off this "we can take superhero movies seriously now" thing. If he's the director, I am completely confident that he'll do something great.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
