Re: Official Lupe Fiasco L.A.S.E.R.S. Thread

Thats a cool story Streets. I looked in that FYE when I got off and that boy was starting to fill up. That was around 6 when I got off work.

I keep giving the cd a listen and I keep skippin tracks. All Black Everything is one of the few that I'm feeling right now. If he could have had more production like that, this cd would be off the chain. Speaking of "chain", Break the Chain makes me wanna throw glow sticks in my mouth or something. Really turned off by that one.

I'm sure I'll start feeling a few more songs with some further listening. You can chalk this cd up as one where the anticipation for this cd ruined it for most.

I cant believe how close in connection I really am to working with Lu in the future. My mans Gemstones was talking to him on the phone just yesterday while at the studio while he's working on a new project. I'm definitely a Lupe fan first and foremost and I feel geeked just to know that he's heard some of the music that we've produced.

But overall it is still Lupe with the same message, just more straight-forward and with more emotion.

It's a solid album. In my opinion doesn't come near the cool, but still a solid album.

I think its to short and incomplete to be solid. If he had added those 2 songs he dropped almost 2 years ago, Lasers would of went from wack to decent. Sometimes the songs dont even flow together. Likes its missing something.

I don't think I've met a person who has like Outta My Head yet .

Seems like the most popular song among my friend is Till I Get There.

I can't stand the song...but I think it serve it's purpose. Just can't make an album full of songs for all dudes. There needed to be a party/pop song on there...there was one on F&L and a few on The Cool. I think the problem is that there aren't enough quality songs to make you forget about that song or a song like I don't want to care right now. Like how The Instrumental followed I Gotcha or how Little Weapon followed Hi-Definition.

Only thing I like about Out Of My Head is the hook. I expected more from these two.

Re: Official Lupe Fiasco L.A.S.E.R.S. Thread

Just so people know, and I'll post it in the Hip-Hop thread as well, Lupe officially announced Food and Liquor 2 today and claims that it's just about half done.

                  Food and Liquor 2

There's no attempt to get on the radio, except maybe once, thus far, it's still a work in progress," he told MTV News. "It's a harder album -- the beats are way harder. It's not about being progressive. It's not about making music, which is weird [to say]. It's 'let's make some really hard-*** songs."
                  Another quote from another article:

So far, he hasn't recorded any material for Food & Liquor 2 that includes the cast of characters he introduced on his debut and his sophomore set, The Cool.

Fiasco does plan on reintroducing those concepts, but the collection is, at this point, more along the lines of "S.L.R. (Super Lupe Rap)," a lyrical dynamo that the rapper unleashed online last year in the wake of a comment made by Soulja Boy about MC-ing.

"It's not an attempt to remake Food & Liquor," Lupe explained, citing "SLR" as an example of the project's DNA. "It's not any attempt to reshape it or reintroduce it. I just think Food & Liquor was a dope title and I wanted to use it again."

I'm with you there about the song serving it's purpose. A little off-topic, but I still don't know why Hi-Definition wasn't pushed out as one of the singles. I feel like it would have worked better than Paris,Tokyo as a mainstream song.

I like the album a lot. It's not as strong as his best work but I still like it a lot more than anything I've heard since Em's last album and the last POS I picked up. Hopefully the bad reception motivates him to do another one sooner.

After listening to this album a couple dozen times im really only feeling 5 tracks.

                        Words I Never Said
                        Letting Go
                        Til I get There
                        Break The Chain
                        Beautiful Lazers

Honorable mention goes to All Black Everything just not something I can ride out too. I can see why this would be in mosts top 3 off this album though.

                          Great story, Streets.

I remember both times I met Phonte and how down to earth and cool he was.

I got two great stories meeting my favorite artist.

                            This seems like it's a LASERS left-over. Don't think it's a Food and Liquor 2 song.

Yeah, it's too similar to all of the Lasers songs to be anything but.

Seems like it probably should've went before or after State Run Radio.

Either way, I downloaded it to add to my "Lasers Deluxe" edition on my iPod. Gives it another song, at least.
