    M. Night's One Thousand A.E.

Gosh darn it! (That's me trying to hold back real anger).

    M. Night has destroyed his career so what does he go out and do? He gets Will Smith to produce and star (along with Jaden) in a new science fiction horror film.

    What the frick?!

How does he do it? How does he manage to stay relevant and then get Mr. $50 MM Opening Weekend himself?

    Anyway, here's the synopsis:

The Sony Pictures press release refers to the film as “an untitled sci-fi adventure” but, last year, Shyamalan had been calling it One Thousand A.E. That title fits with the current description, which says that, one thousand years after Earth has been abandoned, a young boy and his father return to the now frightening planet after their spaceship crashes. The script was co-written by Shyamalan and Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli).
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Just read about this on IMDb. Not happy about it for the time being, but like anything I'll give it a chance pre-release.

Will Smith films haven't disappointed me upon release.

And a science-fiction horror film? I love those.

      Dang it, M. Night.

There is going to have to be a point to the movie other than a father ans son crashing on an empty earth with some monsters.

It's just a synopsis. Alien is about a crew that lands on a planet and is attacked by an alien.

But, the plot of Alien is much more than that. I'm sure One Thousand A.E. will be more than a father and son being attacked by monsters. How much more? Who knows? Probably not much more. No way M. Night compares to Ridley Scott.

Anyone but M. Night and I'd be excited.

Because it's M. Night, Jaden Smith will probably end up not being Will Smith's real son, but will instead be a robot or something ****ing idiotic.

Agreed. But I never seen a ****ty Will Smith movie. He makes them better, and knows how to choose a script.

That was before Will Smith became THE Will Smith though.

Anyways, this sounds right up my alley but M. Night being attached to this has me skeptical about the movie.

                      DAMNIT!

I bet there'll be some unneeded twist where it ends up it's really the imagination of some guy in a sanitarium and everything you watched never took place.

So SPTO, so you're saying that was the Fresh Prince acting in Wild Wild West.

And Big Willy Style came after that.

Yeah, I can't agree with WWW not counting, as Independence Day, Bad Boys, Enemy of the State and Men in Black had all come out before it.

However, since WWW, Will Smith has been THE Will Smith, which I think is what SPTO was getting at: Ali, MIBII, Bad Boys 2, I Robot, Pursuit of Happyness, Hitch, I am Legend, Seven Pounds, Hancock and even Shark's Tale.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. WWW was still at a time when Will Smith was transitioning to what he is now. It clearly was a bomb and it felt like something he'd do in his Fresh Prince days. Since then though, he has grown by leaps and bounds as an actor and a guy who is often in pretty good action oriented movies.
