Every killer portrayed on the show has a dark passenger so to speak and since it appears that Geller is obviously not real all they are really doing is illustrating it for the viewer this time around. The Trinity Killer. the motivational speaker from last year, Jimmy Smits and Dex's brother all had dark passengers. We just never saw them. They had to have that dark passenger in order to appear to function as a normal person in everyday life. They keep thier urges at bay until thier dark passenger forces them to act.

While it was rather suprising that the brother showed up I think that the symbolism is going too far and that the show is still setting up Geller as imaginary as the big reveal which alot of people have figured out by now, some just sooner than others. A friend of mine had figured it out last week and he doesn't read sites like this. I find it a bit cartooney if Dex now had his devil brother on one shoulder and his angel father on the other giving him conflicting advice. Kinda reminds me of Fred Flintstone when he would have both on each shoulder debating whether he should lie to Wilma so he can go bowling.

Wasn't the brother his devil on his shoulder at the end of the 1st season when he was trying to get Dex give in to his dark urges and kill Deb? It seems like they are starting to recycle old minor plotlines and I'm still not sure killing that Mexican kid meant Dexter gave in to his dark urges. The kid deserved it and Dex simply drowned him rather than taking the time wrapping him up. Don't understand why the brother image was necessary.

I love this season, but am not crazy about the dead brother on board. However unlikely, I hope Geller is real.

Regardless of the fact that Nick deserved, I think the purpose was to show that there's no true light inside of Dexter, or at least that it will never win out over the dark passenger, regardless if it would be fulfilling someone he considered a friend's dying wish.

Sure, the brother appearance may have been a bit much but up until that point the show hadn't really had any of those classic "oh snap!" twist moments. Plus to me it's just hinting even more strongly that Gellar is no longer real.

Plus, it's just ****ing awesome than Brian is back. One of the best characters in the book series and he was very underrated with his performance in the first season.

At this point I think there's about a 1% that Geller is real. Everything they showed leads to him being imaginary and now the brother appearing really seems to cement it. Dexter following Hanks and having to leave right before Hanks meets up with Geller was a pretty big sign.

I hope I'm wrong but if that is the big twist for the season then it will be a huuuuuuuuge disappointment because I don't think they hid it very well but then again I think keeping that a secret for 11 or 12 episodes would be a monumental task to begin with. If they don't show Geller being real or imaginary one way or another in the next 2 shows then that has to be the twist they're banking on as thier holy **** moment.

I do think the season is better than last year but they really need to get away with this formulaic "serial killer on the loose that Dex gets to before the cops do because he's so smart" story line they have almost every season. Just too predictable. We all know that Dex kills Hanks in the end and more than likely Hanks kidnaps a loved one before Dex does him in. I thought it would be Mos Def in peril but now I'm thinking it's gonna be the babysitter and Harrison being kidnapped.

I guess that's true but they only played that "true light" angle for 2 episodes because Mos Def preached it. We all kinda knew before this that Dexter's dark side controls him.

I'm just hoping next season they go the route where Dex has trouble controlling his urges and kills people he shouldn't just for killing's sake (like he did with that mouthy biker in the bathroom last year) because his dark passenger is getting too strong. After 6 seasons I think that would be the most interesting and compelling thing they could do at this point to keep the series fresh.

I thought he was great. I just think they should keep the imaginary characters to one (Harry).

I agree.. there should only be one "imaginary character", but that character should now be Brian instead of Harry. Personally, I've had enough of Harry after 5 and a half seasons. Heck for the past two seasons every time my girlfriend saw him she would scream "go to the light, Harry"

Also he doesn't really bring anything new to the table, in my opinion, Brian would. I'm not sure how I would like both Harry & Brian sticking around. I think it may work for an episode or two (tops). However, I really, really hope that Brian wins out and in the end and Harry goes away forever.
