The only reason why I even bring up the soul thing is because this is clearly a very religious season of Dexter so I'm just trying to find a way to connect the two religiously.

I'm not sure how to really put it because it's very weird. The Professor was once a real person, but if he is dead he obviously can't be killing people. So that means Travis is doing the killing. Yet Travis is responding as if the Professor is doing it.

That's all kinds of weird. And crazy.

Hmm... so Dexter's father... wasn't really his father.

This guy... isn't Travis' father... and Travis' parents were both killed in a crash...

Met Jeff Lindsay (the guy who writes the Dexter books) tonight and listened to an hour long Q&A session with him. Pretty interesting to hear his take on things.

It's been a slow build but I'm glad that we'll finally start getting in-depth with The Professor and Travis' characters. How their characters play out is the key to whether or not this is going to be just another season like Season 5 or a really great one like Season 4.

Also, I'm interested to see what the payoff to Brother Sam's character is going to be. Mos Def has killed it with this role so I hope he doesn't get killed off but I'm sure that's going to end up being the case. I still think he has a "heel turn" coming up as well because clearly there's more to his character.

BTW, that death in the last episode was awesome.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

His major thoughts:

1) He hated the Michael C. Hall casting when they told him about it, but now can't picture a single other person ever being Dexter.
2) It was supposed to just be one book, but people started falling in love with the character....and it was only supposed to be one feature film.
3) They barely consult with him at all anymore.
4) He wishes the show would be funnier at times. That's the big thing from the books that he did not think transferred over, but he credits that to the fact that, since it's a television show, they have to go with a bit more of the melodramatic stuff instead.
5) When they contacted him, he assumed that meant it'd be one-season, one-book and the stories would follow the same....but they changed it because now they don't have to pay him for every season.
6) He thinks the Trinity Killer was the dumbest idea for a "villain," incredibly corny and cliche and the only way it worked was Lithgow. The character itself was stupid, but the way Lithgow portrayed it made it one of the best things he had ever seen on television.
7) He assumes the show needs to have Deborah find out about Dexter's Dark Passenger very soon, but he doesn't know if they'll actually do it or not.

That's about it, for what he touched on about the television show.
