I actually enjoyed Season 2 more than season 1 but season 3 was a waste of time. I liked season 4 as well and thought the show was making a comeback but then season 5 happened and everything went back downhill. Way too much time is wasted on the one dimensional, and for the most part annoying secondary characters, with subplots you would see on a sitcom.

Quinn has damning evidence that Dex is a serial killer and he shoves it under the rug because he wants to keep boning his sister, the same sister who has a serial killer behind a curtain and decides to let him walk away for no apparant reason even though capturing him would make her a legend in the Dep't. Or that gripping storyline where Bautista finds out Lageurta has money in her bank account. Boy oh boy that one had me on the edge of my seat. The writing makes absolutely no sense sometimes especially with the secondary characters but the only problem is they get almost as much face time as Dexter which can make the show painful to watch sometimes.

I just hope there's some real progress this season. I really don't want to see another season of Dexter narrowly escaping being figured out by his sister and the rest of ****** PD.

Sorry for the misread. Some of your criticism I agree with. I like the secondary characters, but not some of the situations they are put in. The Batista- LaGuerta romance goes beyond annoying. I liked it better when she was lusting after Dexter.

              Re: Dexter (Season 6)

A new character called Chicago Mike is in the new season. Why don't they just get it over with and call him Chicago Doakes. Has it come to recycling the old dead characters because they are running out of new ideas. I'm getting a bad feeling about season 6 because it looks like it's recycling season 2 with that Latina chick replacing that British chick. I liked season 2 but I don't need to see it done all over again. A bad omen is that a head writer is returning this season that wrote most of the 3rd season. Yikes!

Hopefully Chicago Doakes is alot smarter than Quinn who happens to see pictures of Dex dumping garbage bags into the ocean yet it doesn't dawn on him that since Dex killed Robocop the next day as well that maybe Dex is somehow related to the Bay Harbour Butcher when another cop was implicated in the same Dep't only a couple of years before because the chances of having 2 serial killers working in the same office is a like maybe a gazillion to one.

Here's a snippet of some new characters:

"Dexter Morgan's little underground vigilante operation is about to reopen for business.
Production on Dexter;s sixth season gets underway at month's end ahead of a likely September premiere; and TVLine has an early look at the new blood being brought in to fill the void left by Julia Stiles, Peter Weller and Co.
              Among the three recurring roles being cast are;
              | Jamie: Described as an outgoing and fun Latina in her mid-20s, this Florida native relocates to Miami for grad school.
              | Chicago Mike: New thirtysomething African-American homicide detective who possesses a finely turned BS detector. The Windy City native does not play well with <DEL style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 0px; MARGIN: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 0px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-TOP: 0px">Dexter</DEL> others.
              | Louis: A buddy of Masuka's (C.S. Lee) who joins MMP as a new lab intern. Role calls for a Caucasian actor in his 30s who is attractive in his own way. (maybe Colin Hanks?)

Okay seriously, if you don't like the show and all you're going to do is complain about it, don't watch it. Like Beantown said, no one is forcing you to.

To be fair, Chicago Mike does sound a lot like Doakes, maybe they will go in another direction than they did with Doakes, I guess time will tell.

To be fair (again) Seymour seems drawn to the show based on earlier seasons, and has given detailed accounts of what he doesn't like about it. I don't mind the critique just because I like the show better than him.

                    Give him a break-he liked seasons 1, 2, and 4. I for one loved Smits in #3.

Thank you Jaybee. Why is this the only site that people get thier shorts in a knot if they hear constructive criticism of any show or movie. In another thread I mentioned how the Hangover 2 from the trailer looks like a complete retread of the original movie (right down to a monkey replacing the baby) and people act like I ran over their dog. Never mind about when I constructively criticized Avatar and people went ballistic. This should be a site where you get viewpoints from all sides not a cheerleading contest because alot of people come here to get advice from all sides about games and movies. Somehow it's OK to make your views known about games but movies and shows seem to be offlimits.

Sorry to some of you guys but from the info provided it sounds like Chicago Mike is a complete retread of Doakes. Dexter was among my favorite shows and it's shame that they seem to be taking the easy way out and getting so lazy with thier writing. If that offends you then you need to get over it.

I don't have a problem with complaining, and some of yours were legit, but it gets tired when you repeat them over and over again (going back to past season's threads).

What was repeated. We talked about past seasons and I made my views known about what I liked and didn't like about certain episodes. Never insulted anyone and I certainly didn't troll by just issuing blanket statements like "the show sucks and anybody who likes it sucks too" over and over. Is it OK for people to repeatedly gush over the show. I don't understand the difference.

I will say in hindsight, that although I liked Season 5 (still my least favorite), I thought the main villain was weak.

What was repeated was all of your complaints during and after Season 5. My point is we read them the first, second and third time. No need to keep beating a dead horse.

And no, I'm not saying you can't complain, because like I said you've had mostly legit complaints, but it gets old when it's constantly repeated.

But carry on. We've side-tracked this thread enough.
