Yep the head writer is Scott Buck . He came on in season 3. ****ed up that season and left. Then came back for this season and proceeded to **** it up even more. This drop is quality is not just writers getting bored. Buck is signed on for seasons 7 and 8 (I think), so lower your expectations for the next 2 seasons because it returning to the quality of season 1 and 2 is not looking good. This guy seems more interested is sensationalistic writing rather than logic and prepare to be saying "WTF?" to yourself with this "Deb finding out" storyline playing out.

I know he's written for some crappy network show prior to Dexter but I can't remember which one.

From wiki so take it for what it's worth:

Scott Buck is an American television writer. Buck has written for several television series including HBO's Six Feet Under, Rome, Showtime's Dexter, Everybody Loves Raymond, Coach and The Oblongs.

He moved on to work as a co-executive producer and writer on the second season of Showtime's Dexter later in 2007. Buck was nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for Best Dramatic Series at the February 2008 ceremony for his work on the second season of Dexter.[1][2][3] He remained a co-executive producer for the third season in 2008. Buck was again nominated for WGA award for best dramatic series at the February 2009 ceremony for his work on the third season.[4] He remained a writer and executive producer for the fourth season in 2009. He was nominated for the WGA award a third consecutive time at the February 2010 ceremony for his work on the fourth season of Dexter.[5] For season six of Dexter Buck was moved into the Showrunner position.

        Re: Dexter (Season 6)

Isn't the show making it pretty clear that this intern guy shares the same father as Dexter and is his half brother. That's the only thing that can make sense because Dexter's real father was some anonymous guy who died and that's all we heard. I figure the intern guy was snooping around trying to find his long lost siblings, discovered one brother was the ITK and then followed Dexter around and discovers he's a serial killer as well and assuming that the serial killer genes comes from the father's side then the intern has the same urges and manages to get a job with Miami Metro to get close to his brother who he now idolizes and wants to join forces with.

Hence the little hints with the serial killer game and sending the hand although it's damn convenient that the chick stole the hand in the 1st place. I just see this is the only logical thing to do rather than another run of the mill guy who just happens to work with Dexter while also being a serial killer out of the blue.

I'm interested though where you got that he maybe his brother. That could be interesting but not sure what clues you're referring to.

I honestly think the intern is someone who is obsessed with serial killers just like Dexter is. Making a video game about serial killers tells you he wants to emulate them and has done enormous research on serial killers. My guess is that the intern is or wants to be a copy cat serial killer which has not been seen yet on the show.

As someone who is obsessed with them, why not go ground zero and be in the police department that handled, The Ice Truck Killer, The Skinner, The Trinity Killer and "Bay Harbor Butcher" all within the past 3-4 years. What would be interesting if he were to copy cat those 4 killers which he just started with by sending that hand to Dexter.

Another thing I wanted to bring up was a foreshadow this year was when Dexter caught up with The Tooth Fairy Killer. He did research on him since he was in high school and was notorious to never being caught like Dexter but he caught up to him when he was SLOPPY and did not get rid of the body properly. That's why I bought the Dexter was sloppy this year with his kills, he had to be caught soon.

Dexter for the first time has the tables turned on him and we'll see how he handles it. Its enough that Deb knows but Quinn won't be a schmuck next year and will be suspicious like he once was before.

I figured it out. I know their end game.

The intern is gonna be a copycat killer (thank you for your insightful post) and when it comes time for Deb to get Dexter out of his mess, she will pin all of the crimes on the intern.

When the show tried to get to the viewer's base blood thirsts it was boring.
I actually really liked the beach scene as it was one of the few times in this show when I really thought "oh ****, Dexter is a crazy serial killer"

he's always the anti-hero that you empathize with, and that was one of the few times you they made you think he was just a plain psychopath.

There was a real blood lust there that you rarely see from Dexter. Yeah, we've had numerous "spur of the moment" killings throughout the seasons (like the boat in the finale) but rarely do you see him take such pleasure in it.

I thought that scene did a great job showing his "dark passenger" in full force

So I'm catching up on Mad Men and I'm in season 2 now. After season 6 of Dexter, I can't help but think that Colin Hanks' priest character on Mad Men is gonna have a schizo episode and starts to bring the Revelations on Madison Ave.

Yes, I had no idea where to put this because I'm scared of the official Mad Men threads. Word was, they can be full o' spoilers!

They probably are since all of the TV show threads here -- or at least the ones I've been in -- are open discussions.

I know I made the massive, massive mistake thinking they weren't when I was catching up on Dexter a few years ago. I needed to catch a few of the last episodes of season 4 but didn't have Showtime, so I needed "a place" to watch them. I went into that thread to try to ask for one and instead left finding out what happened to Rita at the end of the season.

I then went on to lose my **** and make a few angry posts, even though I knew it was my own damn fault.

                      Good times.

Ooof! That is one HUGE spoiler to be spoiling yourself with. Although, I only started watching Dexter with season 4 since my girlfriend at the time is a huge fan and I decided to check it out. Let's just say catching up on seasons 1-3 of Dexter made me feel really bad for what was to become of Dexter's little family.

I think that's why I'm more fond of Rita's character than most fans are -- knowing she'll eventually be a goner, any bad character traits didn't really register with me.

Late September-early October is usually the start of a new season.
