I'm intrigued by this book. I might pick it up at $14.99.
EDIT: Yep, just put in the order. I never realized this, but this is the first thing I've ever bought from Amazon. Weird.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 05-25-2011, 03:42 PM.Comment

Just put in my order. I can't wait. I hope there's more honesty like Beadle has throughout the book. I hope it's not all fluff.Kansas City Royals | FC Barcelona | New Orleans Pelicans

Re: Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN (book)
Needed something to read on break at work, so I dropped 20 on this behemoth of a book today. Really interesting stuff so far. Still getting through the beginning stuff about the formation and early days of ESPN. I imagine it will only get better as more and more people that I've heard of are introduced. Right now the only people that I've heard of in this book are Berman, Bob Ley, and Dick Ebersol.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN (book)
If you read Deadspin, they've already covered all the juicy stuff in the book.
The first 250ish pages are pretty dry.
I wish there were more pages devoted to Bill Simmons, ESPN.com, and Colin Cowherd.
The one thing I leared was that a company had a 6 figure offer for Rome/Everett making fun of their incident for a commercial but Rome turned it down.
Mark Shapiro also won't be getting a Christmas Card from Gary Bettman.Comment

Re: Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN (book)
You hear ESPN and think about possibilities but don't let your mind wander. The reality is, if there was anyone even remotely famous in the stories it was John Kruk and Lee Corso Eiffel towering Holly Rowe in the bathroom... When it gets down to it the vast majority if not all of those stories came from interns or the lowest level employees. That kind of **** happens in almost every large business.
ESPN has 400 employees that live in Bristol, the only three chicks we care about getting it don't live there and probably never went a single one of those parties. "Hey I'm a hot reporter that lives in LA, i'm dropping everything to fly to Bristol Conn so I can get me **** on with Lou Holtz at a lame Christmas party."Comment
