Re: Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN (book)

I've learned more about this book (moreso the early years stuff) from another forum. I feel bad for the Rasmussens from what I hear. They originally started ESPN off to be a local New England/Connecticut sports network but they needed more capital and hooked up with Getty and got trampled by the greedy, crazy folks that took over.

At least they kept shares in the company and are living comfortably these days. I really need to get this book! I'll probably get it for my birthday at the latest.

I haven't started reading the book yet... and I was so excited about it.

Take your time. Its really nothing special atleast the first 300 pages aren't. It starts picking up steam once Olberman is introduced onto the scene. Then starts slowing down at about the 2000's.

But that could be just me as the only time I ever really enjoyed the ESPN personalities were the Olberman/Patrick years. Too young for the early years and the current generation of personalities...yeah, I'll pass.

Its definitely worth the read, but its not one of those once you pick it up you can't put it down books. The Saturday Night Live book was much more enjoyable to me.

Seems like no one like's being around Chris Berman. Everyone says he has this attitude that's all about him, and how if it weren't for him ESPN wouldn't be where it is today.

Didnt know Steve Berthuime and Cindy Brunson were married.

I'm still waiting for it to pick up. I'm still in the early years. Now I'm at yacht racing (yawn). I skipped around and read about Beadle and the EA "Controversy". Nothing really earth shattering yet.

I love Berman blaming Kornheiser for the "You're with me, leather" story.
