"Old Farts"...What's your Top 5 Albums of the 1990s?

For us OSers who actually grew up in the 80s/90s...what is your top 5 Albums of the 90s?

Honestly, there were so many great albums that came out it's hard to narrow down.

Being a "metal head" and alternative rock junkie, my High School days were the "Golden Years" of bands like Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Metallica (Black Album and before), Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, etc.

You had some great Hip Hop albums too.

My top 5
1a. Failure-Fantastic Planet
1b. Radiohead-OK Computer
2. Soundgarden-Superunknown
3. Tool-Aenima
4. Rage Against the Machine-Rage Against the Machine
5. Nirvana-Nevermind


I could literally list about 30 other albums including movie soundtracks like The Crow and Pulp Fiction.

This list isn't official for me, but these definitely came first to mind:

1) Pearl Jam - Ten
2) Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape
3) Creed - Human Clay
4) The Wallflowers - Bringing Down the Horse
5) Del Amitri - Hatful of Rain

Listed in no particular order

1. Jay-Z Reasonable Doubt
2. Nas - Illmatic
3. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
4. Wu Tang - 36 Chambers
5. GNR - Use Your Illusion 1 and 2

Edit - I could add anywhere between 20-30 more albums into the mix.

2. Dr. Dre - The Chronic
3. Fugees - The Score
4. Notorious B.I.G -Ready to Die
5. Snoop Dogg - Doggy Style

This was tough not having Jay -z and Nas there but those 5 I for sure played more than any other albums growing up. I'm sure in 1996 when I had my Sony 5 disc changer, these were the cd's in it most of the time.

Dookie - Green Day
Siamese Dream - Smashing Pumpkins
Smash - The Offspring

Pretty much based on albums I (still) most frequently listen to today. Really hard to pick just 5.

I'm sounding like an old fart now, man the music was so good back in the day.

I put all hip hop albums for my list but still loved the diverse rock in the 90s with Nirvana, RHCP, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, NIN, RATM, Sublime, Weezer, No Doubt, SMashing pumpkins. Ok i'll stop but man I loved this era. Well at least i know what I'll be falling asleep to tonight.
