Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Just got back from seeing it and LOVED it! The best movie of the series and probably the best movie I have seen this year.
For me each movie really did a good job of building on the last and slowly becoming more mature as the characters themselves matured.
There were a few bits of dialog I missed due to all the cheering etc so I'm looking forward to picking this up when it comes out on BR to watch it more thoroughly.
9/10 from me....Comment

It is weird though knowing that we will never hear this again in a trailer for a new movie:

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Took the wife to see this last night (she's read all the books and I've seen all the movies with her). I thought it was good, but I also thought it was too short. I think clocked in at just over an hour and a half.
Having not read the books I was confused at several junctions, but all in all I enjoyed it. I'm just not sure they should have split the last two movies up...I think it was a money grab with how short this last one was."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
They list this one at just over 2 hours (2 hours, 5 minutes), although in actual movie time it is less (I think I clocked it at 1 hr, 40+ minutes). When they announced they were doing the final book in two movies, the reason given was that they wanted to be able to really go into depth. I just expected more detail/depth from this one...they could have done the last book in one big movie."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Either way I don't think they could have done this in 1 movie. 2 1/2 hours for part 1 and part 2 that was by your count pushing 2 hours. It might be hard to sell people on the idea of a 4+ hour movie so they probably would have ended up cutting even more out.Comment

I thought it was 125 minutes of actual run time? Idk I didn't clock it.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Run time does include credits. Are you absolutely sure you clocked runtime at 1:40 to 1:45? Credits should be 10 minutes tops. And that is the absolute most you should from a credits time.Comment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Just saw it and I have to say AWESOME movie and I'm really disappointed to see the series end but, with that being said....
I was really disappointed with how many things they left out, for example:
SpoilerAt the end of the book, Harry uses the Elder Wand to mend his Phoenix wand, but in the movie, Harry breaks the Elder Wand in half and you don't even see him show his wand....
Or
When Voldermort and Harry were fighting, before they fought, Harry explained why he couldn't be killed, how Voldemort had no friends, and most importantly, who the Elder Wand belong to by explaining how it was his (Harry's). Instead of doing this, they just fought right away.... (plus in the book, they fought in the Great Hall around everyone in the school, not outside the school by themselves...)
I could go on and on about what they missed. I understand it's a movie, and no one wants to sit there for 2 and a half hours, but I thought this was downright stupid not to include stuff like this.Last edited by SinisterAlex; 07-18-2011, 01:37 AM.Xbox LIVE GT: oALEXtheGREATo

The films are for people that have read the books for the most part. Without having read the books, the films have plot holes galore.Comment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
I read the books as there were released and have such a crap memory that it's almost like it all fresh to me now watching the movies this long after reading them. I remember the main points but I can't remember all the little details for the life of me.
I did think that bit about himSpoilerjust snapping that wand
Apparently this movie has opened at near Avatar levels so it's gonna be BIG at the box office (as expected I guess). I thought it would be huge but not this big!Last edited by Jonesy; 07-18-2011, 03:22 AM.Comment
