Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
They list this one at just over 2 hours (2 hours, 5 minutes), although in actual movie time it is less (I think I clocked it at 1 hr, 40+ minutes). When they announced they were doing the final book in two movies, the reason given was that they wanted to be able to really go into depth. I just expected more detail/depth from this one...they could have done the last book in one big movie.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

It'd be hard to sell anyone on a movie that's over 3 hours long no matter what it is, people would just wait till DVDsSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Just saw it and I have to say AWESOME movie and I'm really disappointed to see the series end but, with that being said....
I was really disappointed with how many things they left out, for example:
SpoilerAt the end of the book, Harry uses the Elder Wand to mend his Phoenix wand, but in the movie, Harry breaks the Elder Wand in half and you don't even see him show his wand....
Or
When Voldermort and Harry were fighting, before they fought, Harry explained why he couldn't be killed, how Voldemort had no friends, and most importantly, who the Elder Wand belong to by explaining how it was his (Harry's). Instead of doing this, they just fought right away.... (plus in the book, they fought in the Great Hall around everyone in the school, not outside the school by themselves...)
I could go on and on about what they missed. I understand it's a movie, and no one wants to sit there for 2 and a half hours, but I thought this was downright stupid not to include stuff like this.
Spoilerone of the most powerful wizards ever uses the most powerful curse known but it's defeated by a a simple disarming spell Harry had been using since his second year at HogwartsComment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
I actually preferred the way the movie did it. The book felt so cliched with the speech and what happened. Plus it annoyed me to no end that
Spoilerone of the most powerful wizards ever uses the most powerful curse known but it's defeated by a a simple disarming spell Harry had been using since his second year at HogwartsSpoilerBut Voldemort's wand was weak because it didn't belong to him, it belonged to Harry. Since it was "loyal" to Harry it backfired on Voldemort.Buffalo Bills

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
SpoilerYeah I know, but I just felt like it was a really cheap plot device JK used. It was rather anti-climatic. 7 books (and many more years for us readers) of build up was all ended in an instant. Couldn't Harry have come up with a better spell to use against the killing curse than a simple disarming spell any first year students could use...Comment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Just got back from seeing it. I've seen all of the movies now and this one even though the most action packed, sort of moved too fast. Maybe i should of watched Part 1 a day or so before watching this one because at the beginning of the movie i was sort of lost since it was a direct continuation.
Not sure if i should note this under spoilers since it has nothing to do with this specific movie but all of them in general:
Spoileri could of sworn in the earlier movies they told us one of Harry's parents was a mogual and the other one a wizard, but this one showed both his parents as wizards. Maybe it's just me and i forgot them mentioning this but it sort of threw me off
On the movie itself, it felt sort of short ended in some segments but was still able to give us a satisfying ending. Not the best out of the bunch, but definitely in the top 3 i thinkComment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Finally got to see it. Absolutely loved it. Very sad to see it all end as this was like the end of my childhood. Books came out when I was about 10 or so, and I've loved all the books and movies (except for the end of the HBP movie ... meh). In any case, great way to end the series and I thought they did a great job with it.Comment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
I believe she also calls her a "freak" in the first movie when Hagrid delivers the letter to Harry.
SpoilerI also liked the final battle of the movie a little more than the book. The book just felt like a let down to me. For it to build up that much and end that... simply, it just felt like a let down. The final battle of the movie felt more like an actual final battle between good versus evil. It still wasn't great, but it was better than the book.
The Snape memory was very well done in my eyes as well. Rickman played it well and I think one of the best parts of the movie.
Also, was anyone cast better than Bellatrix Lestrange? Helena Bonham Carter played her brilliantly. She plays a great psycho character.Comment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Saw it thursday, movie was great! I'm a little younger than most of you guys (only 17 now), so I REALLY grew up on the movies. That said, there's just 2 things that I didn't like in the last one.
Spoiler1: Neville's speach was really cliche.
2: Without repairing his wand, and then breaking the elder wand, isn't Harry sort of useless in the wizarding world now?
And for my question,
SpoilerAlso, why did Voldemort say that Lucious should be ashamed or something of the sort, and why did Mommy Malfoy ask Draco if Harry was alive when she was examining him, and then tell Voldemort he was dead?
Again movie was fantastic, and I look forward to watching them all in a row when it comes to dvdlol.

SpoilerThe Malfoy's were no longer loyal to Voldemort. She was doing whatever she could to try to get her son back if he was alive, I think she wanted Voldemort finished just as much as everyone else that wasn't a death eater by the end.Comment

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Spoilerwhy did she ask Draco if Harry was alive when Draco was nowhere near her? Maybe I just misinterpretted something?
One more thing:
SpoilerIs Snape Harry's dad?? He had the same petronus (sp), and Harry seemed the least interested in him when his mom, sirius, and the others appeared to him before his battle.
Last thing lol, just thought about it:
SpoilerDid Voldemort know by this movie that Harry was a horcrux as well? Is this why he told his death eaters that no one could kill Harry besides him?Comment
