Re: Spotify
I've had it for a few days and love it. Only complaints I have is I couldn't find much Metallica or Rammstein on it. I found it even more odd that I found more Eisbrecher than Rammstein, and Rammstein is a lot more popular and well-known than Eisbrecher on a European, and even worldwide scale.
Oh well, looks like something I'll have to import over from an iPod.Comment

Re: Spotify
I didn't like how when it synched with my iTunes library, it doubled a lot of my albums. So far, it seems to be a big hit in the US.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Re: Spotify
After using it a few weeks, I've settled in to keeping the free service and using it to listen to whole albums to see if I want to buy the whole album or just songs. I only buy about 5-10 songs a month so switching to the $9.99 monthly doesn't really save me. If I bought a lot more I'd switch.
For example, this month I listened to the new Bon Iver album and also the Mumford & Sons, and on both I ended up just buying individual tracks I liked.

Re: Spotify
question about synching with iPhone - is it possible to put songs from Spotify (on my desktop) onto my iPhone? Wirelessly? And just have them there, forever?Comment

Re: Spotify
You have to pay the 9.99 subscription price to synch up mobile devices. I'm not sure if you can do it wirelessly, but I would assume not. I'm also not sure how it handles the subscription-based tracks you put on your phone once you stop paying since I don't know if it requires you to use the spotify app to listen or not.
As for myself, I'm going to keep using the free tier until they put the time limit back in place. Supposedly, free tier allows 20 hours a month regularly, but to 'celebrate' the launch in the US Spotify is allowing unlimited listening for an unspecified lenght of time. It is nice being able to sample full albums and jump from related artist to related artist. I haven't tested out the artist radio, so I can't really make a true comparison to Pandora, but I am enjoying it more.

Re: Spotify
What makes this better than Slacker? I've used Slacker for years, has all the radio stations you want, then if you pay $9.99 a month you can listen to any song, album as much as you want.Comment

Re: Spotify
Free streaming of almost any album and artist. Each artist has an "artist radio" which is comprised of related artists. For $4.99 you can stream unlimited on your computer with no ads or time-limits. For $9.99 you get the basic tier plus mobile device access and other higher-quality streaming, among other features.

Re: Spotify
For the free version you can make playlists and listen to any song you want in full at any time. I haven't used slacker in a few years but I don't remember being able to make specific playlists and listen to any song you want. You can also jump ahead or rewind, and no limit on skips."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

Re: Spotify
I think you are capped at 3500 songs available wirelessly, but you don't own them, you're renting them. If you stop paying $9.99 you won't have them anymore."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams
