Finally listening through the new "Smashing Pumpkins" album.

I have to say that this is the best thing that Corgan has released in a really long time. Zeitgeist was absolute crap, but I'm really digging this album.

Well saying that isn't really saying much either. It's not bad, but I wouldn't call it great either. Siamese Dream (which I just ordered) is what I consider great Pumpkins. Up through Adore they were worth listening to. Don't think I'll be purchasing the new disc. It's more of a download the best tracks kind of disc.

Really getting into The Gaslight Anthem lately. Just in time to see them in a month with 3 other bands I like: Eve 6, The Offspring, and Our Lady Peace.

Yeah, it will never be like that again. I was just pleasantly surprised by it.

Count me in as another who loves "Dirty Magic".

Listening to it on YouTube now....not bad. Prefer the original way more. They've butchered the chorus.

I just went through the Offrpring album last night. Didn't hate it, didn't love it. Some of the stuff was kinda weird (I was a 'tad' drunk but I swore there was dubstep in there), but at this point in their career I wasn't expecting fireworks.

The best part of the re-make is the heavy guitar part from 0:22-0:30. It could probably do without the background vocals during the chorus, but the added words ("Go on..." and "oh all the...") were added in when they did an acoustic version for the Greatest Hits DVD back in 2005 and they just carried it over into the re-recording for this album.

no "dubstep" like Skrillex (thank god) but OC Guns is kinda "dub/reggae" kinda like Sublime, which I actually think worked kinda well, despite the kinda-dumb lyrics haha

They've got a new album coming out soon, have you heard 45? It's awesome.. one of the best bands out right now imo.

Yeah, 45 is a pretty good song. Looking forward to the new album, which comes out 4 days before I'll see them live.

Please excuse me being super late on this, but I don't follow rock music anymore, and just randomly find out about stuff when others play it around me.

So last night the girlfriend was playing Citrus by Asobi Seksu. I know the album came out 6 years ago, but it's new to me.

Another band who has caught my attention lately is Fun. Having only heard the single We Are Young, I just figured they were a one hit wonder who had a catchy hit. Not the case at all. Both Aim & Ignite and Some Nights are very good albums.

Saw this little present sitting in my newsfeed from the Heartless Bastards this evening. A two song acoustic set for Paste Magazine. The songs are Gotta Have Rock n Roll (which an acoustic version was included with the digital vinyl copy) and Skin and Bone. I really wish I was there. Hard to think of a few things better than to listen to one of your favorite bands play acoustic songs on the beach.
