I agree NTFP album is their best, with Cities a close second. I actually never really gave their recent release a proper listen... Shame on me.

Midtown was such a good band. Shame their singer had to go and form Cobra Starship after they disbanded . Their guitarist joined Senses Fail for a few years though, which is a guilty pleasure of mine haha

Sometimes you just need to blast this out the windows on the way to work and forget what ails you.

Yeah man, "Living Well is the Best Revenge" was a great album. Shame they aren't together anymore.

I'm only 3 songs through Mumford & Sons' Babel album, but I must say, so far it's pretty solid.

Personally, I like Cities just a bit better myself, but it is very close between that one and NTFP.

                  Re: Official Rock music thread

                  I'm assuming this goes here.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has continued their longstanding trend of nominating a couple legitimate, all-time awesome rock bands... but then a whole bunch that either aren't rock* or make you go "what?"

Notables include Rush (I'd be jubilant if I didn't hate the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame), Deep Purple, Heart, NWA, and Public Enemy. They're some fancy fan vote thing now, but how much it actually comes into the equation is very miniscule.

Here is the Rolling Stone article.

*According to the Hall of Fame's President/CEO, all bands they nominate "share a common love of the music," I don't get a lot of bands they've either nominated or inducted. For example, Michael Jackson is always referred to as the "King of Pop." I would never classify him as rock.

this is a good website that shows who's eligible for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions each year. Also has a list of bands that have been snubbed

A look at the top future contenders for the Rock & Roll hall of Fame

Queens started recording their new album in August, with Joey Castillo still on drums. While I would gladly welcome Dave back in Queens, Castillo ain't too shabby.

That list of snubs is just ridiculous. Thin Lizzy, Weird Al, Steppenwolf, Steve Miller Band, Soundgarden, Slayer, Motorhead, Motley Crue, Megadeth, Jethro Tull, Judas Priest, Chicago, Kiss etc... are all bad enough, but no Def Leppard, no Iron Maiden, Depeche Mode or Rush??? All of those bands (though admittedly, I don't listen to Depeche Mode or Rush) were icons who were crucial in the advancement of rock, and not to have them in the rock hall is absolutely criminal.

Its been awhile, but Black Mountain has become my new favorite band. Been listening to them quite a bit the past couple of weeks. They have a great classic rock basis (Deep Purple, Pink Floyd) with some early 90s alternative (Smashing Pumpkins).
