    Re: Official Rock music thread

Speaking of Springsteen rock, Bingham's new album (not pure rock I know) is a lot more in line with Springsteen's early stuff than his previously Bob Dylan influenced stuff.

      There ya go
I'm disappointed. Only one song off RPM, though I love Siren Song of the Counterculture album and there's a few on that set list.

They have a different audience. I'm very surprised with how they blew up, proud on one hand but kinda disappointed because their older, more punk sound was what hooked me. Still good, just not as.

I, for one, was never one to hate softer songs by a heavier band. Sometimes they are some of my favorite songs by them haha.

As for track 12 (The 2nd Law: Unsustainable)... DUBSTEP!? WHYYYYY!!????
I don't mind softer songs if they're good.

An example of a good "soft" song by a heavy band? Nothing Else Matters.

Went on a bit of a Kansas kick last night after hearing Wayward Son on the radio. If you've never heard them play Icarus live, go check it out on YouTube now.

Siren Song is my favorite overall album. I wish they would have played Dancing for Rain or Rumors of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated.

Jack White show last night was probably one of if not the best show I've seen. His song selection was pretty flawless even if he neglected to play some of his bigger songs like Seven Nation Army and Love Interruption. Amazing renditions from his Raconteurs, Rome, Dead Weather, and White Stripes stuff. I highly recommend this tour. Backing band was great and it was interesting to see Jack commanding the stage and flowing pretty freely when he is known for purposely restraining himself in his projects.

Just curious, but is anyone else a fan of Anberlin? I've been on kind of an Anberlin kick lately and I must say I'm a huge fan of their musical style.

I like the newest Stone Sour single "Absolute Zero." Corey Taylor has said their new album will sound like a mix of Alice in Chains and Pink Floyd. I've never really gotten into Stone Sour, but it sounds interesting enough to check out.

YES. Anberlin rocks. They always come with quality music. Can't wait for the "Vital" album this coming month. Early word is it's supposed to be the best album yet.

Wait a minute, Stone Sour is going the route of Alice in Chains/Pink Floyd?

While I love both of those bands, is that really the direction Stone Sour should be going? I'll hold judgment til I hear it, but I like my Corey Taylor bands to be heavy.

I actually like the different vibe Stone Sour has taken.

I love Slipknot, they're my favorite band. But I like to hear Corey actually singing because he has a great voice.

I'll have to hear it for myself because while I do agree he has a good clean voice, his screams are among the best ever. They've regressed over the years and it's understandable considering the stress on his chords, so I'll give him that, but this info caught me off guard.

Same here. I'm very excited for that album to drop. I personally am a fan of their earlier stuff a little more (mostly Cities and Never Take Friendship Personal), but they always bring it and make some awesome stuff which makes all their albums an automatic listen for me.

Absolute Zero is an awesome song. I'm excited for their new album, but I seriously doubt it will sound like anything but Stone Sour regardless of what they say (that's my hope, at least.)

Stone Sour is great. Zzyzx Rd. is a really powerful song. Saw them at Uproar Fest a few years ago and met all of them. Told Corey Taylor he is "the ****ing man" haha.

I also really like Slipknot too. I used to hate them, and then I actually listened to them haha
