I'll have to check that out. Never really been a big Godsmack fan, although Awake is a good song. Pink Floyd is, however, awesome

That album is probably the most refined so good choice. Their lead vocalist has a very raspy type voice, which is why I was really into older Rise Against, so it hooked me immediately. I think "Pawner" is an INCREDIBLE song.
If you like Streetlight, check out Catch 22. I'm not big on ska either, but Catch 22 is incredible. Hell, Streetlight covered an entire album of theirs.

Yeah I knew that.. Probably why I never went ahead and really checked out Catch 22.

Anyone remember The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus? They had that one big hit and a pretty good album in "Don't You Fake It," then sold out and kinda sucked. Apparently, they came back with some good material in their last two releases (an EP and full length). Heard a few tracks from both and was impressed. A good evolution from DYFI.

That's because the singer of Streetlight was the singer for Catch 22 on that album before leaving Catch 22 and forming Streetlight.

I never knew that... That would explain why the SM cover was so similar.

Looks like I'll be seeing Jack White next month. After watching the live stream from Lolla I am definitely pumped. I'm going to see Black Joe Lewis on Labor Day.

Amanda Palmer just released a new, free EP to tease her fans for the new album she's coming out with soon. Unfortunately, there's only one song that she hasn't already released in some format. Still, it's free (donations are accepted though). Here's the link if anyone is interested:

An interesting note about Amanda Palmer, She actually wants/doesn't care if people to pirate Dresden Dolls stuff because of the fallout with her label and she sees nothing from those albums.

Its also crazy she got over a million in donations from the kickstarter for this album.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of her style of doing things. I like that she gives everyone the option of paying for her music. If you don't want to, that's fine. If you do want to give something, you can give what you feel is fair. I usually pay $1 per song since that's about normal price (12 song album usually costs around $12 in stores anyway).

Love when bands have a open payment system set up. I typically am more inclined to get the album through that method then others, and just for making it so easy, I throw them a few bucks.

This seems to be happening more, too. Which is great. And hopefully that money is going more directly to the artist.

Well Radiohead won't try this method again that's for sure. Too many cheapskates out there that will only pay a penny. If I were an artist and did something like this I would make a minimum payment of at least a dollar to prevent people like that. You may lose some customers, but they aren't really customers when they are paying so little intentionally.

That's one good thing about her still being fairly unknown, or at least, not as popular as Radiohead. With a band that has as many followers as Radiohead, you're bound to find some a-holes. With Amanda, her following is a lot more artist types who understand, hence how she was able to gain $1.2 million through kickstarter.
