I wish I went to the 3 hr and 15 minute how in Milwaukee last week. Aaron Rodgers and a hew of the OL went to the show. Eddie said he asked Aaron backstage if he would mind being traded for Cutler. lol

The crowd also sang happy birthday to Tom Petty.
They played the whole album of Yield.

Here is Rick Nielsen, of Cheap Trick, jamming with them from the show. He's less than a few hours away from Milwaukee.

Sad fact: Baba O'Riley was my class song, that's right, the idiots picked "[aka] Teenage Wasteland" to represent the class of 2001

My class voted for Hangin' Around by Counting Crows. The admin wouldn't allow it to be played at the ceremony because it contained the lyric "We spent all day gettin' sober".

                From Wayne Static's FB Page....

                Static-X Founder Wayne Static
                Passed Away At Age 48

November 1, 2014 - Platinum selling musician Wayne Richard Wells, better known as WAYNE STATIC, passed away at the age of 48.

WAYNE STATIC was the enigmatic former frontman and namesake of Static-X, who later forged a successful solo career. Wayne was scheduled to co-headline tours with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool over the next several months.

No additional information is available at this time.

                ------

This news is shocking to me. Static-X is one of my all time favorite bands and had a huge influence on my musical taste in HS. This is right up there for me with the death of Slipknot's Paul Gray.

New Such Gold album out today. "The New Sidewalk" Been streaming since Monday.

Impressed with this. They had two pretty well regarded EP's before releasing a LP in 2012. Mixed reviews. Personally, I think it was solid with some highlights and some filler. This new album though, maybe it's a product of streaming through the whole album (even though they released 4 singles) but no track seems weak and the album flows together nicely.

Some pretty sick riffs and leads which this band has always done so well. It's described as melodic hardcore, so it's fast and aggressive, vocals included... Not quite singing, not screaming, I guess yelling is the right word here.

Just love the energy and passion the band always brings. Very happy with this release. Not reinventing anything but pushing their sound to new places without losing their identity. Probably second place for Album of the Year for me. Instantly hooked.

I'm going to see The Futurebirds on Thursday. I can't wait.

(the first song in this vid reminds me of Dire Straits for some reason)

Anybody watching Sonic Highways on HBO? Pretty interesting stuff.

For anyone not familiar, Foo Fighters recorded their new album in eight cities - Chicago, D.C., Nashville, Austin, Los Angeles, New York, New Orleans and Seattle.

The show takes them to each city, where they explore its musical history before recording a track there. They've done four of them so far. I think Austin has been my favorite to this point.

Listening to a heavy rotation of Cartel this week. Their The Ransom EP turned 10 recently, so I felt obligated. That and their follow up LP "Chroma" were the catchiest things ever. They were the benchmark for powerpop and probably did it best. Still around but nothing has touched this EP or Chroma.

Been jamming Stellar Young's new release, Vessels.

It's pay what you want on bandcamp:

Used to spin tunes on the defunct website Turntable.fm with their guitarist/vocalist. They're a great change of pace for me, a modern rock/alternative group. Really digging this as a winter album. I could definitely hear them on the local alternative radio station because I think they fit right in with their musical range.

If you do take a listen, the lead track "The Reunion" is my favorite off Vessels.

New Funeral for a Friend album is a certified true banger of 2015.

Heaviest track is probably actually one about feminism. Lol

The hidden track is killer too.

Album can be streamed on Spotify or via their YouTube channel!
