Probably won't like this one either. They're even more shot out. LOL. I don't mind a guy yelling in my ears though, and he hits when he needs to. There is an acoustic track, too.

Man this band seems so well respected within that scene, but I've just never been attracted to them. I'll have to try again a bit harder. Especially if they revamped their sound.

Yeah, that's exactly why I kept giving them a try. Their new album is more of a heavy indie rock sound, which I like a lot more than the kind of generic punk stuff they did in the past.

        Official Rock music thread

Been sick the last few days so I had time to compile a big *** playlist. Featuring mostly punk, rock, pop-punk, hardcore and other similar genres. What I did was went through every album I've saved and picked my favorite song from each.

I've been into checking out people's playlists recently because it allows you to step out of your own listening habits and discover something new or rediscover something great. If this introduces one person to a new band, then it was worth it. At worst, it's like a "Best Of" of my collection that I can throw on.

Rings in just shy of 12 hours. I like my playlists long and just throw it on shuffle.

I have a bunch of playlists - typically mood/atmosphere based.

Very cool. My musical taste is wide, but my focus is on one broad genre and the surrounding subgenres. There's so much music it's hard to listen to it all! I've always wanted to venture out past the modern music I listen to because so much of it is influenced from old greats. I just feel like I owe it to myself to hear where it first started. Kind of a paying of respects. And it's just nice to change it up.

I'm gonna check out your playlists over time. Definitely recognized a lot of the bands/artists, just never sat down and gave them a true listen. It's nice to be able to stash it and have it when the time is right.

I like having spotify for the artists I know and then whenever I need something "fresh" I can go venture off via the "similar artists" tab and meander my way through there.

Just going off of your previous post Lee Bains III should be right up your alley.

The only gripe I have with Spotify is that the radio feature sucks.

Yeah, Spotify radio sucks. I'd suggest Slacker for that purpose. I always find myself saving tons of new tracks to my Spotify from Slacker.

I could stand to use Spotify better. Right now, I have a ton of songs I want to buy in a playlist, and put into my personal collection. I've been meaning to build a best of my collection playlist, and then go from there.

I've never tried their radio much. I typically stick to full albums and whatever playlists I make.

Yeah the Radio feature is not good. Just feel like they threw it in there to compete with Pandora et al.

I pay for a premium subscription so I can pick and choose, but when I was just a free user I'd shuffle a full album and let it go instead of radio.

Paying for premium is the best decision I ever made. Still wanting to support the bands/artists, I buy their merch, attend shows, and sometimes buy albums directly through the band so they get the most of my money (bandcamp is pretty good). I know streaming services like Spotify aren't helping these guys much, but I feel much better then straight up ripping tracks like in past years. The whole industry needs a facelift but fat chance of that happening.

I love doing the long playlist on shuffle thing. I've been listening to one that iTunes tells me is 1.5 days worth of music, but that's because I picked albums instead of just individual tracks. Put that sucker on shuffle and enjoy. Total variety of genres too, from old school rap to deathcore, which is pretty fun when it spins from 2Pac to Infant Annihilator

I've also been keeping up an "overall" playlist of tracks I listen to at my buddy's house. It's weird how I do it, I have a "preview" playlist on the ipod that I listen to full albums and pick anywhere from 1 to 3 songs from each album or EP to put on the "willhouse" playlist (to play at Will's house, I'm creative :/ ), then I add those tracks to the overall list and just keep it going. I'm up to 715 songs on that bad boy and it's a trip going back to specific areas and just letting it run

There are some great playlists out there that other people have put together. If I'm looking for something fresh, I usually just find one of those and put it on shuffle. If I come across a track I really like in those, I throw it into one of my own playlists.

I didn't know until recently that Audioslave was just Rage Against the Machine with Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) on vocals. I knew about Cornell, but didn't know about the rest of the band. Going back now, especially on their first album, it's so obvious. Morello is a beast.

Yeah, I've been listening to Audioslave recently after hearing it was basically RATM - Zach + Cornell. I don't enjoy it quite as much as Rage, but they're still pretty wicked.
