Yeah, they tried to take a service that is driven by the wants and needs of the listener and make it about them and their raw deal. It doesn't help that they trot out a big list of the highest grossing music stars and say "pay us more"!

Re: Official Rock music thread
I think this is the best thread to post this. A buddy's band is heading out on a quick US tour and if any of you are near where they are playing I would HIGHLY recommend going to see them. They are one of the biggest bands in the Winnipeg rock scene right now and they just put out their first single from their upcoming album.
Link to the single and tour dates:
Also, a music video they put out a little over 2 years ago.

Spoiler
They are legitimately a good band, I'm not just promoting them cause they're friends.

Re: Official Rock music thread
Quite possibly the first (and last) time Taylor Swift gets any mention in this thread, but Ryan Adams (probably best known for fronting Alt-Country outfits Wiskeytown and Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, but also an extremely stellar solo artist) did an absolutely BRILLIANT cover of Swift's Album 1989, in the style of The Smiths. Quite possibly one of the best musical efforts I've heard this year. It's wonderful. Whole album posted below:

On another note: Went out and bought a hard copy of The Wonder Years' latest effort, No Closer To Heaven. I have a new weekend activity!MLB: Minnesota Twins
NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
NBA: Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves
European Football: Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion
NCAA: UNI Panthers, Iowa Hawkeyes

No Closer to Heaven is stellar. I was a bit let down with The Greatest Generation, so my expectations were a bit tempered. Knocked it out of the park. Good mix of slow, building songs with a couple of good pop punk jams. Cardinals might be the best song they've ever recorded. Other favorites include Patsy Cline, Stained Glass Ceilings (when the guy from letlive. cuts in it gets real), and Palm Reader.
I've been listening to a ton of Have Mercy. So good. Emo/postrock or something like that.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: Official Rock music thread
I’m usually a hip hop guy but needed to get into something else. I remember my late uncle’s favorite band was Dio and I actually never listened to them or atleast paid attention to it growing up.
I actually used to be so scared of his Dio poster on his wall lol.
Man, Ronnie James Dio has quickly become one of my favorite vocalist ever. I can’t stop listening to the Holy Driver album.
If anyone can suggest more singers like him would be greatly appreciated.

Hansi Kursch(Blind Guardian, Demons and Wizards) is the first one who comes to mind.
Can also recommend some solid Power Metal too.Comment
