I think a twist like that would result in a lot of pissed off female viewers. Would be a crazy/unexpected way to end it, though.

That would be super sad.....but pretty unique.

For a second, I had a dumb theory run through my mind that Robin is the mother, but like before when she dated Ted then went to Barney, she divorced Ted and went to Barney. And that's this whole thing about the setup with three of them not working.

It would be dumb, but it did cross my mind.

Yeah, but then all the things that Ted had mentioned about the mother like her being at the St. Patrick's Day party, in the wrong classroom on Ted's first day as a professor, being the roommate of Cindy, etc. would all have been lies.

As someone who doesn't care about the mother if for some reason they did end up making Robin be the one, it would really annoy me.

I took the whole three of them not working out as meaning Barney and Robin don't end up together based on a ridiculous thought I had that Barney's wife ends up being Ted's sister. I have nothing to base that on other than the fact of Lily telling Ted that the bride needed him in the season premier.

That's not the idea here.

The idea is that the mother has since died. Somewhere between the end of the story and 2030, and Ted is telling his kids a story about their deceased mother that they didn't know.

In the episode where Ted runs into Wendy the waitress in the future doesn't he mention being married with 2 kids? So unless Ted's wife isn't the mother, which could be possible, they would know her.

Decent episode tonight. Not great but not bad either. Definitely the weakest of the season so far, IMO.

There have been a lot of jokes this season by the writers making fun of themselves for how long Ted takes to tell a story and talking about stuff that has nothing to do with the main plot of the show.

This was my least favorite of the 4 so far as well, but wasn't bad overall

Yeah... I thought the plot was good but the execution was a little off, like the dumb crying under the tables and Ted in general.
