    MF Lawsuit
The suit is hardly about their salaries, though:

"The suit, filed Tuesday, argues that their contracts with 20th Century Fox Television violate a California law prohibiting personal service contracts from extending for more than seven years.

The lawsuit asks a judge to rule the contracts are illegal and should be voided because they prohibit the actors from other work. The lawsuit states the contracts bind the actors to work on the series from February 2009 and June 30, 2016."

So wait...I understand their problem but they have agents who also work as lawyers to discuss their contracts.

And you mean to tell me that their agents let them sign illegal contracts?

Seems they should be finding new agents.

The suit is also about caps on salary increases so that is about salary/money.

Right, but the majority of the suit is about the actors/actresses not being allowed to work on other projects due to the terms of this contract, which you decided to not mention.

I gave you a whole link which had all that information.

Youre the one with the excerpt that examined part of the law suit.

Your post was misleading because it frames it as if the majority of the lawsuit was about their wage, when in actuality it's about the length of the contract and not being allowed to work on other properties.

To be fair it really is about money, this is more of a hardball negotiating tactic than a legitimate lawsuit.

Of course it is. Being able to work on other projects simultaneously would indeed earn them more money. The OP made it seem like they were only upset that O'Neil earns more for MF, which, while may play into it, is not the sole reason for the suit.

You realize that most of the cast is locked in contract negotiations because they want more money, right?

Anyway, Ed O'Neill has joined the lawsuit.

What isn't about money nowadays? But wasn't the main point of the article that was posted that the contracts locked the actors out of playing a role in any other production?

                        Apparently not this lawsuit.

And if you still think it's not about their salaries:

Sources tell THR the five cast members are being offered salary increases as follows: $150,000 per episode plus a $50,000 per episode bonus for season 4; $200,000 per episode for season 5; $225,000 for season 6; and up to $325,000 for an anticipated season 9. The cast is asking for much more, including more than double the offered salary if the show goes 8 or 9 seasons, as expected.

Actually they are asking for a lot of loot even by TV actor salaries. I know the top three leads on The Big Bang Theory (Galecki, Parsons and Cuoco) are getting $250K per episode.

Moving along, as a fan, the more important thing to me is that this is beginning to affect production of season 4.

Those salary numbers are ridiculous, though.

                              Yes, good idea. (moving along)

Well they missed the table read yesterday, so they're one day behind in production. With O'Neill joining them I think it will be wrapped up more quickly.

Speaking of obscene numbers here's the dramatic salary boost the cast of Friends received:

                              Season Three-$75,000 per episode
                              Season Four- $85,000 per episode
                              Season Five-$100,000 per episode
                              Season Six-$125,000 per episode
                              Season Seven-$750,000 per episode
                              Season Eight-$750,000 per episode
                              Season Nine-$1,000,000 per episode
                              Season Ten-$1,000,000 per episode

Friends was at the end of the era where network television was still a force, but yeah those salaries were ridiculous to me, too. Especially in those seasons as that show really sucked at the end.
