    Holy ****!

What kind of calibration mic/software does the Arcam come with? My Anthem comes with ARC and it is the most wonderful creation on this planet. It blows Audyssey out of the water.

By the way, do you always have your Panamax set to the brightest? I always have mine set to the dimmest.

Haha yeah it's on the brightest, I need to adjust it. Arcam uses Dirac Live. I'll get it calibrated here in the next few months probably.

What are some good bluetooth earbuds I could use outdoors in public?

I have ones I have at home but those are bulkier and weirder design to it so it'd stand out in a bad way.

Not looking to spend alot, especially incase it gets damaged or stolen. Mainly just using it for an hour or two a day at the most. I'd say $35CDN/$25USD for the most.

Best I've found on Amazon are Nanami, Mpow, and Anker.

You're right. I own a pair of these and they sound great. Glad I found this thread. I didn't even know OS had Audiophiles lol.

Was looking to upgrade my sound system. Currently deciding between these three. Any recommendations? I think the $249.99 price point is the highest I'd like to go. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Anyone have a soundbar? As in only a soundbar, not like a full home theater system. Specifically one from Amazon?

Been looking at getting one for my parents who dont exactly care about audio quality (they're fine listening to the audio from the TV speakers themselves), but their setup is one from the 00s, and the 2 back speakers are broken, so only the front left/right and center speakers even work. It's essentially a 3.1 setup at this point.

                Been looking at something like

But not sure how good they are, or how easy it is for non tech savvy people to use (specifically when it comes to operating the speakers with a universal remote). At the very least it has optical input, which is better than the current setup which uses those red, white cables to connect their home theater in a box setup to the cable box.

Never heard of that brand, so I'm gonna assume it's pretty terrible quality.

yeah i mean what do you expect for a $100 soundbar? Obviously for guys like me and you it will sound like crap but it will probably be better than a 15 year old system.

You'll probably expect the sound to be louder than tv speakers but the bass will probably be muddy or very low.

For 100 bucks more you can get a Polk soundbar: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...0&ie=UTF8&th=1

Would this at least be decent then? Still a similarly cheap one, but at least it's a known brand.

Obviously to a real audiophile you can tell difference between some $100 setup and a $500+ setup, but like I said, I'm getting it for the type of people who are even fine with just listening to TV through the TV speakers. So anything is an upgrade over that, and some late 2000s home theater in a box.

                        Re: The Audiophile Thread

I'm not offering my hat in the ring for an affordable suggestion, but after my other Klipsch soundbar somehow kicked the bucket (it was inside my garage for my new house in the hot Sacramento area for one whole June month, the internal components must've melted), last Black Friday I looked into a few soundbars.

I tried a Sonos soundbar that I absolutely loathed (I forget what it was called, but it was $500 and I'm searching for it and can't find it, so it must have been bad haha), and ended up getting I believe a Samsung one at an equivalent price that is pretty good.

The problem with most of the soundbars I'm finding is that they don't have good lipsync settings that go both directions. I forget which way I generally have problems with them (I think the sound being too early?), but this Samsung one ended up being fine after doing some firmware update. Some channels sync differently than others unfortunately, but whatever.

Nothing rivals a great HT system, but soundbars absolutely thwart the sound that come from televisions, especially today's (also especially when they're wall-mounted).

                          It was probably the Beam.

It very well may have been, but I'm convinced the one I had was with some sort of arched design in front, intended to provide a little bit more of the surround sound immersion when called upon. I can't find the image of that thing that looks like that, but maybe that is in my head and it had a different look.

I even tried to look through my Best Buy account purchase history, and it just doesn't show up. It's like this was a phantom product or it was all in my head or something. So strange.

EDIT: I found it. I was called the Sonos Playbase. **** that thing.

if your parents don't really care about sound quality and only need an optical input, any cheap Vizio should work

I got one for XMas last year for a small TV with junk sound quality, and basically only the optical output for sound, plugged the guy in and it works great, was actually surprised at the bass
