    Re: The Audiophile Thread

Yeah I agree the bass is not what its for. I use them to watch movies on my computer or if i listen to rock or a good singer. the mids and highs are awesome on the sein 595s. But if i'm listening to electronic, hip hop, dubstep, RnB i use my studios.

I just got Beats Pros for 200 on sale refurbished from monsters site and great so far. Haven't listened too much but I like them a lot so far.

      Re: The Audiophile Thread

So I'm about to pull the trigger on a Polk Audio deal that I can get at work.

      Polk Audio TL150's

      Polk Audio PSW111 Sub

      Pioneer 625W 5.1 Receiver

The speakers I'd be getting for $100, down from $400, and the sub I'd be getting for $90, down from $350. The receiver would just be my normal discount for $165 down from $230. With cables, speaker wire, and mounts, I'd be just over $400. Do you guys think I'm getting a decent set up here? I don't want anything crazy. Just enough to give me surround sound and a hook up for my record player. I've read reviews on the speakers and everyone says they're great at for the price at $400 so I feel like $100 is a real steal.

Is it just for your record player? Aren't they just two channels?

It's not just for my record player, its for surround sound too. I just found a way to do both.

Thought so, I was just checking to be sure. Seems like a pretty great deal to me. I recently got a Onkyo 7.1 HTIB and am loving it.

Co-sign. Very good deal. A solid 5.1 receiver would run you $250-350 alone.

I have a set of Polk Audio bookshelf speakers and they have been great.

Yeah I love the discounts I get. One reason I've stayed with Best Buy for so long.

Anyone looking for a nice pair of in ear headphones and don't want to drop 100+ on Beats, I recommend these.

Great crisp, quality sound. Find the right size pad for the ear bud for and it will help cancel sound and the bass response is really good.

Yep, I think it's from the images above or the links from the post about the Polk audio stuff.

I like Polk audio. I have some of their outdoor speakers on my deck and they are great.

That's my fault. I changed the source of the subwoofer picture. I site I get the Polk stuff from requires a separate login.

So who's gonna upgrade and get 9.1 surround? http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/07/l...-1-surround-s/

That's pretty cool. Personally, I can't believe how much surround space even five speakers will give you. The fact that my sides can sometimes sound like sound is coming from directly behind me is awesome. Some mixers are really, really good at knowing how to image their sound for audiences.

While vertical seems to be the next step, I think the next improvement in the technology itself as far as 3D sound is trying to improve sound so that closer objects sound closer to you, and not just necessarily louder. I've heard the demo equipment for it myself before with two-channel surround, and it's even more impressive than 3D television IMO, even though it's more subtle (because it's just so natural).

Although, I'm not upgrading to 9.1 any time soon. No games or films are going to be produced for 9.1 for a long time now (at least not without upconverting), so it's going to be a faux sound design for now anyway. I still need to think about what kinds of front towers I want to upgrade to in the coming year.
