Android Tablet Thread

Didn't see any general thread and figured I wouldn't get an unbiased answer in the Fire thread.

As much of a tech head that I am I know nothing about these. We are debating on which one to get for my mom. My dad keeps saying iPad, but I don't think he knows they are $500. She would just play games, browse facebook and read books on it. She has an iPhone 4 so she would know her way around the iPad. She'd probably also get made because they are funding a trip to Vegas for my sister's wedding and didn't want any of us spending a lot on each other lol.

If it can check email, browse facebook and play games then it's what she needs. I've never been in the Android Market place so don't know what is available there either.

So what should I look for?

There were a couple but one got derailed with ipad stuff

Anyway, they seem to be getting more popular and the thread is fitting

FF has had about 6 of them so he should be in here giving his unbias reviews lol

I still want opinions on the iPad, Kindle, Nook and Android based tablets lol.

wait another week for the asus prime tablet, I believe its $499 and has the first new Nvida qore quad.

sad. Asus Prime gets you a 32gb tab vs only 16gb on ipad. Not to mention quadcore tegra chip along with some android greatness.

Yeah, I'd go Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet for a cheaper way...They're really nice and great if you're just doing games/web/books type stuff.

I like my iPad though, it's expensive but does a great job. I may upgrade my Nook at some point though too for a smaller option, I dunno.
