Re: Android Tablet Thread
It is available for android phones but not for android tablets running honeycomb. I believe it has to do with apple getting exclusive rights for ipads for awhile. I thought there would be a special way of doing it but going through my browser or any other way does not work for me.Comment

Re: Android Tablet Thread
I just bought (have yet to open it) a Sony 16gig tablet. It was $399 as opposed to $499 for the 32 gig. I thought I was being brilliant by saving $100 because the guy at BB told me it had a slot for SD cards so I deduced if I ever ran out of room I could just buy a SD card for 16gig that would have been much cheaper than $100. Now I just found out that the SD slot is for transferring files, not memory expansion. I only plan to browse and play games on this thing for the most part, not much videos or music so is 16 gig enough or should I spend the $100 for a 32 gig?
Any of you guys own the Sony one? What are your thoughts? Did I get a good deal? I liked the fact I can DL PS1 games as well as the regular apps. Do they take up much space?Comment

16 GB's is probably fine for most people, but I found that I blew through that on my ipad 1. I stream videos from my PC, but it was my habit to just keep all the apps and games I bought on it.I just bought (have yet to open it) a Sony 16gig tablet. Re: Android Tablet Thread
Yeah I found out that out of the 16 gigs only 13 gigs was usable because of the preloaded stuff so I decided to return the Sony and ended up grabbing the Acer Iconia 32 Gig for $429 which only cost me $30 more than the Sony. It got good reviews, has a legit 32 gig exandable memory slot, longer battery life than the Sony and best of all had a micro and full sized USB slot which no other tablet seems to have.
One more question. Is this invisible shield worth the money. At $30 it's pretty steep and when I put one of those on my kid's Ipod Touch it showed some tiny air bubbles no matter how careful I was with it. I don't think I want air bubbles showing on a 10 inch screen. Best Buy wanted $20 to install it themselves (yeah right) so I figure there must be a trick to doing it that Best Buy doesn't want to divulge. Anyone know the best way to apply it? Or is the screen not prone to scratches as long as you're careful?Comment

I don't bother with screen protectors, but I also don't have children. You lose some of the clarity of the screen and the smoothness of the glass on your fingers. It's like putting a plastic cover on a new couch.
Acer tablets are even proudly displayed on Corning's Gorilla Glass website.

Re: Android Tablet Thread
Re: Android Tablet Thread
This is kind of an all encompassing tables question but I didn't want to start another tablet thread.
I'm looking for a tablet and I really want an iPad, but I can only afford to spend less than $300 if even that. Every iPad I've looked at on Ebay seems to be scratched up or dented. I don't want peoples junk. So I think this is gonna put me in the market for an Android tablet.
So since this thread is pretty does anyone have any recommendations? I know the Nexus 7 is supposed to be amazing, but that's too small for me. I don't think I can go lower than 8".
Also, I know this is the Android thread, but what do you guys think about Windows tablets? I don't want to make a separate thread about those.
Thanks in advance guys.
I just came across this on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-Su...item5b0ab13977
It seems like a really good deal, but I have a laptop, aren't these more like laptops than tablets. I mean would it just be like having laptop in my hands? I'm just not sure if that's what I'm looking for or not.Last edited by PVarck31; 01-05-2015, 11:07 PM.Comment

Re: Android Tablet Thread
Yeah those ipad minis had been on sale but they're small.
How about the HP x2 or the asus transformer tf100. Should find those under 300.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JOI6FZ8/...GBCI0NKJ&psc=1
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...f_rd_i=desktop
The HP is a windows tablet but I welsh date get one under 32gb because that OS is too demanding for a low gb tab.
The Asus is nice too but what id dois also make sure you're probably getting one with the new processors which is quad core.
Both of those tablets come with keyboards and detach to be stand alone tablets.
Either way I think you could probably get what you want. As far as iPads are concerned you're probably looking at an older model or lower end one. ..a smaller sized one.
I searched far and wide after Christmas for tablets and found a few but they all needed to be ordered online for the deals.
what are you looking for in terms of specs other than 8 inch or above and I can help you look
Both of those are great
Oh one other thing. Stay away from windows tablets that are windows rt instead of windows 8.1. Rt won't accept certain plug ins and things so some sites you can't pull up where 8.1 is just the same as a pc or laptop
You might see alot of people on ebay selling the surface tabs at a deal but watch and see if they are RT tablets. MS has moved away from that some time ago so I wouldn't.Last edited by 23; 01-05-2015, 11:35 PM.Comment

Re: Android Tablet Thread
Thanks for the response. Those 2 aren't bad, I'm just not sure I want a laptop-like tablet since I already have a pretty good one. That's why I really want an iPad but like you said I'd have to go older model and ones that are in good condition are hard to find.
I don't mind something a little smaller. 8" would be ok, I thought about an iPad mini 2, but those are still $300 and my wife is nagging me about keeping it in the low $200's.
What do you think about the Toshiba Encore 2? http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Encore...shiba+encore+2
The reviews are a mixed bag, but Its more tablet like than some of the others if you know what I mean.Comment
